Pierre Lebrun also said today that a team is going to try and make a trade for kapanen before before the deadline, and it wasn’t carolina.

Sanheim 1 for 1

Myers + 2nd (I’m willing to give back a 4th)

Morin is one letter shy of Moron. Which is what the Flyers are for drafting him.

That could be true . . . but I don't know. The only offer that I see that makes any sense is Sanheim from Philly.

The only names I see that fit in terms of dollar in / dollar out that fit with the salary are:

Montour <-- I doubt we want to deal with Buffalo, nor they with us.
Sanheim <-- I doubt Philly wants to do this deal, but it's been mentioned before.
Zadorov <-- Colorado has a glut of young D (Girard, Makar), but I doubt it.
Nurse <-- Kapanen and McDavid would be the league's fastest twosome. But Nurse is too important to them.
Morrissey <-- The Jets don't have enough D to trade them.
Pionk <-- The Jets don't have enough D to trade them.
Carlo <-- We're not trading with Boston.

Unless it's one of the young promising RFAs - but we need help now (Boqvist, Bouchard, Dobson . . . ), not in 2-3 years from now.

ive seen enough timashov....
- CarlitoBrigante

he's already been passed by engvall on the depth chart.

if marchment can bring some toughness and replace most of timashov's 22 point pace offense, his days are likely numbered.

Agreed.

That and we wouldn't trade Carlo for Kapanen in a million years.

I know Friedman said the Leafs were shopping him, but I didn't see where he said Bracco wanted a trade.

Anyhow, trade him. Give him a chance.

- Atomic Wedgie

i could see why he could be getting impatient. led the team in scoring; by a wide margin over other guys getting their chance.

he should get a chance. he should also have some good value in a trade.

It was in his "31 Thoughts" podcast. Said the Leafs are willing to move them. I think that just means he's asked for a trade. Read between the lines.

Don't trade Bracco for peanuts.

He's a talented player. We just have no spots open in the top six right now. He really does deserve a shot though.

You're right. Kapanen is way too valuable for Carlo. You'd probably have to include Pastrnak, eat half his salary and take Ceci to offset it.

I'm surprised we don't have to pick up the remaining tab on Kessel as well.

That'd be awfully swell if you would!

In fairness to the original point I was making - that would be the basis, I'd think. The Leafs would want to target an age appropriate defenseman with a contract similar to what they are currently paying Kapanen.

The thing is - as we all know - teams that currently have designs on the playoffs have no real need to trade a young affordable defenseman who's going to help this year and years beyond. Teams that are rebuilding must have a serious glut of young D and a lack of speed to want to consider this deal - otherwise the young D is still worth more than Kapanen on a 1:1 deal.

Your point is fair. I get territorial of Carlo. He is very underrated across the league. His ga/60 at 5-on-5 last year was the lowest in the league among defesemen that played >1,000 minutes at evens. Considering who he is deployed against, that's mighty impressive.

Edit: was the lowest as of 3/13 last year. You get the idea though.

Yeah. Ferraro criticized his small gloves.

Ferraro also criticized the IIHF rule that allows a team to replace the shooter on a penalty shot.
