Yurp.
Apparently Tre said they are gunning for it at the deadline... so doubly excited for that.
Edit: Kreider is in town... get on it Tre - rmull905
Florida seems to be stacked with top end talent and never in the playoffs.
Might be a hockey trade to be had. |

That’s kind of the story of Bennett’s career.
Johnny for Tkachuk I would do that in a heartbeat |

With Frolik gone, I think the flames should look at putting Bennett on the PK a little more. Why not try it out that might be his thing. |

I was wondering why Goudreau had some jump tonight daddy’s in the stands |

Bench Benny every 10 games... been playing great the last 2 nights! - rmull905
Today I saw a glimpse of 1st year Benny when he tried through the leg shot. He use to try those moves in his 1st year and then stopped doing it completely. I'm glad to see he is trying those moves ) |

Since everyone is convinced Gaudreau is leaving in 2.5 years no matter what, they should try and flip him for Erik Karlsson. He's still probably a top 3 defenceman in the league but makes zero sense on a team with Brent Burns.
The Flames have major questions at D after this year. They only have two guys signed and one of them is the same age as I am. They're not going to get a better player back for Gaudreau, and there's next to no chance they'll get a superstar any time soon since they shouldn't be drafting in the top half of the first round any time soon.
San Jose is going to be bad for a long time and San Jose and Karlsson probably wouldn't mind a do-over on the contract right now. They might even be able to get the Sharks to keep paying Karlsson a couple million every year with the massive cap savings they'll get and the fortune that'll help their rebuild when they flip Gaudreau when he's a pending UFA.
I was thinking about this before they unloaded Frolik, but now it's actually realistic. |

I've heard that before, not sure if there's some opinion out there that Bennett still has a high ceiling or what, but there sure seem to be some blinders on when it comes to his value... Hoffman is a regular 25-30 goal guy and last year was nearly a point per game player. Deadly on the powerplay and would be a perfect compliment to our PP2 and our top 6.
I was a little tongue in cheek with Benny for Hoffman, I actually think that deal could have been had 2 years ago with Ottawa, but in today's world, I think it takes Benny+ to get that kind of deal done unless Florida is totally out of the playoff picture come Feb 24 |

Hoffman is a pending UFA/Rental.
Benny is a proven playoff performer and under team control beyond this summer.
The only way I trade Benny is if we become a seller at the deadline and there will be a lineup of playoff teams willing to pay up for a player like him. |

At $11.5M per though? I dunno. I like Karlsson, I don't think he's ever been a truly great defensive defenceman, but he definitely still is a playmaker (goal scoring fell off a cliff after 2015). Mostly a powerplay specialist nowadays though when it comes to his point production... That said, 2 reasons I think they are unlikely to do so:
A) They let their captain (40 goal guy last year) walk in order to sign the guy. There's more than just EK's contract to consider if you're dealing him, but Gaudreau would be an apt replacement for Pavelski if you look at it that way.
B) Burns is no spring chicken either (35 in March), so there's more of a likelihood that this is his final contract in SJ and/or the guy is dealt before EK |

Yes, Hoff is a pending UFA/Rental, but that's a guy that would cost potentially a 1st round pick at the deadline anyways - a contract could be made contingent on the deal as well, so there's a possibility he's renewed right away
Also, Benny is NOT a proven playoff performer. You can't be a proven playoff guy when you have exactly 20 games of playoff experience. He was their best playoffs guy last year but that's a really small sample size to base anything off of. He had 6 points in his other 15 playoff games. So which guy is he in the playoffs? The one who scores a PPG, or the guy who pots 1 every 3? Don't think anyone knows yet.
He's a physical 3rd liner who can score the occasional goal. Don't discount that we need physicality, but I think you're overselling who he is just a tad. |

When he plays the style he can he's a great addition. Problem is finding consistency. I crap on him all the time but he's not much different than josh Anderson. We keep saying play him with talent for a long period of time but he gets the odd game then it's back to the bottom 6. |

What was Doug Wilson thinking ? Have to think he'll get canned over this debacle. $80million at a declining asset signed into his late 30s. San Jose is screwed for the foreseeable future. If BT sees doug Wilson on call display, let it go to voice mail. |

Fair enough but from my take the Flames are not built to play heavy playoff hockey for 2 months so why trade one of the few guys who can bring that unless you dont think its your year.
Benny was our best player in 2017 when we got swept by the ducks too. |
