Wonder how much of Strome's production has to do with Panarin. He is almost at point per game.

I have not watched Strome this year but probably most of it.

I hear you on Whalstrom.. and I felt he was good in tourney, but he isn't ready for fulltime NHL . I am fine making these kids wait and earn it. Look at Bellows. He was healthy scratched for 2 games in B-port and finally figured it out. He has been insane since... Let Ollie be furious he is in B-port until his play Demands he be called up. ... they are looking at Ladd right now a former Captain trying to earn his way back into the NHL. ... it's good for them for sure. (truthfully that is where Dobson should be right now too).

I just think that Eberle contract will burn the Isles. He disappears for long stretches. Too bad Isles could not find another useful forward like Brassard for a year to give Wahlstrom more time instead of giving Eberle 6 years. Lee is a warrior but he cannot generate offense. Isles need more forwards that can generate and not just depend on Barzal.

The cap doesn't matter so that's impossible

#Isles Injury/Transaction Update: Adam Pelech sustained an injury to his Achilles tendon prior to the team’s game on Jan. 2 vs. the New Jersey Devils. Pelech is out for the remainder of the regular season. Sebastian Aho has been recalled from Bridgeport.

Well. That's a massive problem.

Gotta wonder if now a trade for a rental defenseman is in the cards

Don't worry, it's a horrible market for rental defensemen this year. We might be better off keeping our assets and not doing anything

I'd really like to see Dobson get a long stretch of consecutive games. I thought he played really well last night.

I hope the Isles internal options on D get the job done because all resources are needed for offense. Eberle, Lee, and Bailey need to wake up.

Take your pick: https://www.capfriendly.c...21/caphit/all/defense/ufa

The list of pending UFA's from non-playoff teams is pretty ugly

I wouldn't, sorry just not strong enough yet. Kids got offensive skill but needs more time d zone before a full-time roll imho. Rather have Hickey, unfortunately he's also injured.

I'm not saying he needs to be a full-time player, but I'd like to see him get 5-6-7 games in a row and see how he handles it over a bigger sample size than just a game or two here or there.

That said, he probably won't because they called up Aho who's a lefty and they seem intent lately on keeping Dobson on his natural RH side.

Another issue is that Aho may have been one of their best trade chips for help up front, now he's gotta be off the market. Pelech's absence is bad enough but there's going to be trickle-down issues from it as well and that sucks too.

Dobson played the left side in Jrs. and really is comfortable on either side. That said it's the NHL and they may feel its easier on his natural side to start for sure.
I don't think Trotz and the staff think he's ready because he's basically only played when someone was dinged up.
Good point on Aho being a trade chip that now may come off the table, however I don't think the kid is tough enough for the NHL. I could be wrong just a gut feeling.
I know this won't be popular on here but Hickey getting his bell rung repeatedly and not playing definitely hurts this teams D depth.

Hickey would be the best option but obviously he's been out since November so that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon, which is a shame for everyone. I liked Aho in his 20-something games here two years ago and he's only gotten better since then. I'm excited to see him get a look.

But I think it's going to have to be one of those three or, more likely, some combination of all of them, because the trade market for defensemen looks like hot garbage which means prices will be higher than they should be.

Wow. The Pelech news is awful. No way around it.

Let Dobson play consistently.
