Question (s), Are we legitimate cup contenders THIS year, with scoring help ?
Obviously, to acquire this asset, some will need to be given up. I personally think we are really close, but could be closer next year, and the years after. With Pelech out for the remainder of regular season ( at least ), I would be alright to see Dobson, and Aho, and company play this year, and then make a move in February if it's good for the Isles...cause (frank) the other teams

Same here Cpt. Lou has some tough choices. There really does not seem to be the one move to put the Isles over the top. Maybe the big moves will need to wait until the summer? If Aho looks good, maybe Leddy is moved for a forward and a move is made with Bailey to free up space?

This team to me is more in the market of trading futures imo unless someone blows their doors off with an offer. Hard to really say what Lameriello will do I guess because he hasn’t really done any trades save for Martin. If this team looks like it can hold it together with the loss of Pelech and responds well I would hope he makes a move before the trade deadline.

Lameriello has a history of being aggressive through trades to improve his teams until now. Interested to see if that changes this season...

Short answer is yes imo even with the loss of Pelech. Real answer is maybe? Let’s see how the team plays with the loss of Pelech.

I Couldnt see them trading Leddy even if Pelech didn’t get injured and now with Pelech injury even if Aho plays lights out Leddy definitely isn’t getting moved.

Yeah I agree. My thought is if Trotz feels Dobson has played well and he’s confident in him it should be him.
I would like to see Aho at this point.

Would be pretty telling if Aho jumped right in with Dobson being with the big club all season only practicing for the most part. Current situation makes me wish Dobson got a lot more playing time over the season than he did.

I honestly think he’s been ok. If he could be he would be in the AHL and wouldn’t have been up. He needs to get stronger imo, especially in the D zone.
Gotta play your best guys and Dobson wasn’t one of them until someone was banged up.
Stupid (frank)ing rule that he couldn’t be in the AHL. You play your best in the NHL and these young guys need to get prime minutes in the AHL to get use to the speed and size of the pros.

I agree the rule is stupid and handcuffs teams with developing prospects but those are the rules and you have to make decisions based on them. I also agree to an extent that you have to play your best players but with that said part of a coach’s and gm’s job is to develop their prospects. Not saying that didn’t happen but it’s at least questionable on how he has been handled.

Sure it’s easy to say now the kid should have got more playing time but 12 games out of 39? I’m not going to get into the debate because it’s pointless but there is an argument to be made of course. I’m more interested to see how the team responds than debating how much playing time Dobson has gotten but I’m betting you can count on a Dobson/playing time blog from Ben shortly😂

That’s exactly what I’m hoping for. Hopefully it snaps them out of the funk they’re in. Tough game tonight the Leafs have been playing well and they’ll be out for blood due to how we’ve manhandled them since Tavares left.
