If anything, it looks like the lack of player depth is starting to catch up to the Isles. The rest of the league is starting to put their (poop) together while the Isles have peaked.

Let’s quickly walk through some of the numbers people were talking about after this game.

Shots on goal (all situations): 48-28 Winnipeg

Scoring chances (five-on-five): 31-22 Toronto

High danger chances (five-on-five): 16-7 Toronto

I love looking at shots — they tend to be a great indicator of which team is controlling the run of play — but sometimes you need to look a bit beneath the surface with respect to shot quality.

And then this is last night (Tor taking 54% of scoring chance share)



Isles got in closer than many, but the Leafs are now in the habit of dominating the HDSCF%, even if they don't have as many shots on net.

I said of the jets game, even though the jets outshot leafs felt like the leafs had the puck more in the ozone and had WAAAAAY more quality chances.

Typically, if you are shooting from high danger spots (and scoring on those shots) you don't get 2nd and 3rd chances. More goals =less shots.

And his coaching in the last Boston series makes my blood boil. He was horribly outcoached.

I think the refs know that Sandin is a Maple Leaf Prospect. Just getting him ready for life in the NHL.
