Carol Schram: It's 90s night as Canucks host Rangers; Podkolzin on to WJC gold-medal game We could be in store for another high-scoring game as the Vancouver Canucks don their black skate jerseys and look to extend their league-high winning streak to seven games as they host the New York Rangers. At the World Junior Championship, Vasily Podkolzin had two assists and Nils Hoglander was ejected from the game as Russia defeated Sweden in overtime.

Thanks Carol, great point about other goalie options. Kuemper/raanta are both great options. It is hard to imagine the nucks not trying to resign Marky long term at this point. Just needs to be a manageable number going forward. Demko may not be ready next year, but if he's the future you could platoon him with a strong vet next year no problem and sell extremely high on Marky. I know this view is very unpopular, but this team still needs to look two years down the road IMO before they are truly cup contenders of any kind. 32 is getting a bit long in the tooth to be a stud goalie, but hard t oargue how good he has been this year and last at this point.

Thank you Carol.

I think you need to sign Markstrom no matter what. He's too big in the room and has proven he's legit. He's also earned his new contract. If there's anything the last expansion draft showed, it's that there's deals to be made to keep players on your roster while leaving them exposed.

If we want to keep Demko badly enough we'll find a way, and personally, I think trading Marky would be too detrimental to team chemistry long term.

Might be true! He can fully choose to go to UFA though, wonder if his agent convinces him to.

With Marky replacing MAF how is Bettman going to include a Vegas player? No last man in vote for the Pacific? just insert a Vegas player which means no All-Star game for Huggy bear.

Lets be honest the ASG is a farce and if Hughes or anyone can rest then good for us.

Yeah, I would rather have Hughes learning from LE in Mexico.

Tanev has a photo of him at home sitting at the table and Petey lying down on the cough. I imagine Tanev is giving lessons on how to do proper lines.

Hey Quinn, no problem not getting voted to the all stars. Let's go to Cabo, here's a pic from last year!

And Markstrom.

I understand about being there for the first time but the rest would help the team a lot more

This is very true. This ASG also just upped his salary by a fair bit. Just one more chip for the agent to stack on the table.

are you still talking Markstrom? I thought bonuses were only on entry level deals?

or future deals I guess.

Maybe he means negotiating. ASG bonuses are league paid.

The game seems like it could be a fun experience for a goalie, not sure about the skills competition as much.

Agreed it is an absolute embarrassment to call this an all star game, I can remember when the best players got together and actually played a real game to win with emotion.

All the Canucks should say F it and rest.
