Looked like former jets 1.0 Igor Ulanov was a team Russia coach. Pretty sure it was him I saw getting a medal.

Never heard about Ulanov, but didn't watch whole game. One guy they mentioned was Larianov.

Well as my manager always tells me past results are a good indicator of future performance. I don’t see any reason to hold onto a pick where the Jets have traditionally struggled, especially if it means that we could find permanent solutions to some of our current challenges.

Oh I have no problem moving a 2nd rounder if the deal is right, but not for Tierney. It's the 1st rounder I would not deal. Upcoming games should tell us a lot. This should give us a good indication if we are buyers or sellers at the deadline.

See Copp should be back. Copp-Lowry-Harkins?

With a healthy roster I would prefer the lines as being:

Connor-Scheifele-Laine
Ehlers-Wheeler-Harkins
Copp-Roslovic-Appleton
Perreault-Lowry-Shaw

This is also under the assumption that Little is finished. I don’t foresee him risking his life to come back to play hockey. But, you never know getting hit the noggin makes people do weird things.

Was that Khabibulin maybe?
Pretty sure I heard his name mentioned as one of the Russian coaching staff.

Your 3rd line center may be the 3rd best center on his line. Little will be back when he gets medical clearance

It was Khabibulin !
Ulanov was likely with Bautin watching the game at a bar.

Copp is a much better center than Roslovic.

With Little back, which he will be, I’d go:
Connor-Scheifele-Laine = It’s rough on defence, but Laine drives play now, so he and 55 can steady 81.
Ehlers-Copp-Roslovic = The Speed. No weaknesses here, aside from only Ehlers being a shooter.
Perreault-Little-Wheeler = Established chemistry for the old guard, Sweet Prince Matty P there to slow the aging process.
Harkins-Lowry-Appleton = Get the Moose Bois rolling with a tall safety blanket between them to prevent shenaniganry.

Would think it would be:
Connor-Scheif-Laine
Ehlers-Wheeler-Roslovic
Copp-Lowry-Harkins
Perreault-Shore-Bourque

Or Appleton for Bourque? Hoping that Harkins finds chemistry
with Copp-Lowry.
I'd be fine with Shore coming out. Finally "Sammy Time?"

i don't think that Maurice likes Sami Niku. There is no reason that Sbisa, Dahlstrom or Bitteto should be in the line-up over him.

I posted on the wrong blog this morning......

Its Niku time !

Lets hope he has a good showing against Montreal. I'm also glad that Maurice cleared up all these ridiculous conspiracies about Niku. He loves Niku and his abilities , and like I have mentioned before it was nothing but injuries, bad luck and subsequent conditioning that kept him off the Jets roster. Now he can bring some additional competition to the Jets defensive roster. All good !

I want to get this straight Jetsnation. Do you believe Maurice thinks Niku is one of the best 6 defenseman the Jets have? Cause that's what most believe he is, and when he gets sent to the press box or back to the Moose when Kulikov comes back that's not indicating they believe he is.

I don't think he gets sent back.Niku is not top 6 , he's top 4. He played 30+ games for the Jets last year and did pretty well. He would have been in the lineup from day one if not for the car accident and then the two subsequent injuries. Now he is here and unless he somehow screws up , he is here to stay. He will be Pionk's partner in a week or two. He represents the type of mobile defenseman with some quickness on the boards that the Jets desperately need right now. He isn't going anywhere.

I see him as another Samuel Girard type defenseman as he progresses a bit more.

If he was top 4, than why did the Jets start him the A? If the answer is to protect Bitteto, Sbisa or Dahlstrom, then this team has major challenges identifying talent.

Read my first post again as to why he started where he did. Reconditioning form car accident then subsequent injuries.

Poolman, Samberg (?) and Buff's replacement - at least 6'2, skilled, tough and RH'd. Hopefully that will work. Maybe Heinola will have a growth spurt? That's my hopes. Too much to ask?

Disappointed that Harkins is out of line-up tonight. He played hard! Maybe they're showcasing Bourque and Shore? lol

I read that! Beaulieu got injured as well. I am confused as to how he got into the line-up so quickly as compared to Niku. Do you think that the Jets will also be sending Kulikov down for conditioning as well when he comes back from injury, or even Byfuglien if he decides to return?

Paul Maurice has shown that likes slow, grinding, over-hyped type players. I am not surprised by his deployment of them. Disappointed yes, but not surprised.

Is Harkins on an ELC? And if so are they trying to keep his games played to less than 10?

Remember this is an organization that thought they should draft Logan Stanley instead of Girard, Cholowski and Hronek just to name a few of the dmen taken after Stanley that are already top 4 NHL dmen or on their way to being one, those three are all smaller and mobile dmen compared to the big, lumbering slow defensemen the Jets prefer like Stanley.

I won't be surprised if at some point we find out that the Jets let Maurice make a pick at that draft and Stanley was his pick, seems like the kind of dman he prefers.. Lol

It would not surprise me if Maurice is making the picks. All Chevy seems to do is watch the waiver wire and think about the future!

Big win by the Jets tonight!
