Isn't it funny how we heard so much Leafs had no depth a month ago? This team has ridiculous depth. - RogerRoeper
It’s Dubas and his Marlies.
The focus he put on the Marlies is great. |

That guy is just taking advantage of a leaf hater and Hab homer market.

I somehow doubt that whatever he does that is hockey related pays any bills |

So this is going to sound like a shot at Dubas, but it really isn't.
Leafs fans have to stop giving Dubas so much credit for developing players through the farm system.
That's what you are supposed to do.
That's what every other team has done for 50 years. Only the Leafs have not done this.
So is it great that the entire organization has started developing players? Yes. Hell yes.
But Dubas isn't some franking genius for using the farm system. It's just that Leafs Nation has never seen it before, so they think it's a novel approach. |

Dubas and the Leafs/Marlies have spent the last few years really developing the bottom 6 type (mostly because all the blue chip prospects are Leafs).
The Leaf wont rank high on the Team prospect rankings, but it looks like they have lots of NHL ready players who jump in and are put in positions to have success.
its good to see, a complete flip from what the Leafs used to be. Its taken 5+ years to get there and we probably havent seen the best of the processes yet.
Dubas has been the best thing to happen the Leafs since Shanny was hired |

Draft is in Montreal.
First overall pick will be a guy from Quebec.
If that's not (frank)ing destiny, I don't know what is.
If there was ever a time to rig the lottery, it's now. - Scabeh
There's a slim chance Scabbie - much to the chagrin of many here - Ottawa looks pretty good in the upcoming draft. With a high top five pick of their own plus a second top ten from San Jose, they will have two lottery tickets for Lafreniere. Ottawa and Detroit have to be favoured

Habs are quietly putting together a nice little roster of young players.
This might not be their year, but if I was a Habs fan, I'd like what Bergevin is doing. |

A lot of teams try, of course.
Dubas has had tremendous success with the Marlies. There is no denying that...currently he has 13 players on the Leafs who have spent at least close to a full season there.
And players like Holl, Moore, Engval, Marchment, ect were all ECHL level players when they were brought in here.
There is no denying the success he has had with them. The most recent Holl signing is proof. |

If they miss the playoffs again, that will be 4 out of the last 5 (and 1 first round exit)
And all while actually trying to win.
Congrats to them |

Agree with this - an element of good forturne or luck seems to be involved as well. Leafs picked Gauthier in the 1st round in 13, but landed Andreas Johnsson in the 7th. In 14 getting Engvall in the 7th to go with Nylander in the 1st was something we would expect from Tampa - not the Leafs at that time..

And that's why the "4 forwards for 40 million" is not nearly the big deal people make it out to be. And that 40 million is not going up but the cap is. |
