Don’t you think it’ll be a little strange if the Leafs pick first overall despite winning the Cup? But I’m down for that.

This whole tanking buisness is very confusing to me.

Can't we just buy off Bettman to get Lafrenière? Or get everyone's first round picks?

- Scabeh

I think if that was possible the Leafs would have run into cap issues sooner.

At the very least New Jersey, where Bettman is from, would have drafted 1st in 2 of the last 3 drafts, so I don't . . .wait a minute.

So do we still trade for a backup?
- TheMussel

The way i think about it is, if Freddy went down, would we feel comfortable with Hutch in the playoffs as our FT goalie?

I'd say no, so we should still be looking for an upgrade.

What team doesn't say that about their starter/

Draft is in Montreal.

First overall pick will be a guy from Quebec.

If that's not (frank)ing destiny, I don't know what is.

If there was ever a time to rig the lottery, it's now.

- Scabeh

Last time it was in Montreal didn't they pick Louis Leblanc only because he was French.

Well to be fair, Leblanc went pretty much where he was predicted to go.

But yes, there was alot of pressure on the team to take him insteaf of the guy Timmins reportedly really wanted to draft, which was Marcus Johansson.

Good morning, fellas.

Time for everyone's favourite number crunching:

Atomic Wedgie's Keefe's Leafs Extrapolatorator

20 games. 31 points.

Extrapolated over an 82 game season, that would be 127 points - 5 points shy of the Habs' all-time record. Washington is currently on pace for 120 - tops in the league.

82 goals for in 20 games. Extrapolated over an 82 game season, that's 336 goals. Nowhere near the 83-84 Oilers - 446 goals for. Yeah, doubt that one will ever be broken. But last year, Tampa was top team with 325.

54 goals against in 20 games. Extrapolated over an 82 game season, that's 221 goals against. Hold on to .HoHo.'s hat - that would have been the 5th best GA in the league last year. So for those of you who are saying that the Leafs are giving up too many goals under Keefe, it's simply not statistically accurate. In fact, it's wrong.

Goal differential: it would be +115 goals. Last year, Tampa was tops at +103.

Yeah, yeah, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...

But the numbers are startling enough to force even Drunken Canuck and other haterz to admit that something pretty special is going on here.

Can you give us more details on how the model determines the equivalence between ifs and buts and candy and nuts?
