Last time I checked Boston was 6 points up on the Leafs and 4-1-5 in their last 10 games while Leafs were 9-0-1 (BTW Sens were a putrid 3-4-3)

Enjoy your trolling adventures.

I think Tampa has figured it out now.

They win the division

since Keefe took over

Detroit is 3-17 (.150)

6 points, which is 11 worse than the next worst

3 ROW, the Leafs have 15 in the same span

I was looking at the Athletic's NHL fancy number predictor.

It's predicting that some teams will play 83 games this season.

You'll forgive me if that makes me a little skeptical of its predictions.

It's all due to rounding error. How that is, I don't know. But that's what he says.

If there is significant rounding error there should be a number for variance or standard deviation. But there are way too many sources of error that cannot be predicted with accuracy. Injuries, slumps, trades etc. I agree with Wedgie tough to accept stats like this.

Better to look at projected standings based on feelings?

Just be glad you aren't an Islanders fan.

Currently on pace for 109 points. Athetic says they will finish with 98.5.

Ouch.

What would these stats have predicted for St. Louis last year in December? What level of error would have been made +/- 40% ?

I think the context here is important, almost certain Bolts will be 1st round opponent in playoffs and this is a head to head fight for home ice advantage.

You are going about this all wrong.

These predictions aren’t a physic prediction, we are all well aware the final product won’t follow exactly what the numbers say...there are way too many variables.

I see everyone on here giving their predictions, the difference between what Dom and others do is Dom uses numbers.

No one can predict the future but if you use numbers you can find something close to it. That’s all he is doing and no one is saying every prediction will come true. Except for you.

Is this what we're doing? Just going ahead and talking about the webster's dictionary definition of predictive statistics?
