I love Poile, & everything he’s done has worked out, for the most part... But the NHL unfortunately stays undefeated in recycling coaches - and I HATE it. Hynes was fired from a last place team already. Is him coming to Nashville jumping from one burning ship to another?

Poile was fired by the Washington Capitals as GM, and recycled to Nashville

Absolutely, and a couple seasons after, I can see the league's behavior more from a marketing standpoint, and less from a Pens' fan point of view. It is important to support the new(er) teams. But because we in PGH were also all riled up from a wild playoff run, it was so annoying, and it seemed like the network was acting like we didn't need to win it all again because we had just won it all the year before. The pregame coverages were insufferable for us, really.

In any event, good luck with Hines... I think he will do well there. I have no stats to back that up, just a good feeling. Something good needs to happen in NSH.

To your first paragraph, that's fair. I don't watch a lot of Preds games.

To the second paragraph, you can't argue math. What if feels like versus what actually happens are two very different things and only one is correct.

Goaltending is the biggest issue. I'm not going to say that maybe Laviolette didn't grow stale to some degree, but I think an upgrade in goal would make a bigger difference than coaching.

You could be right, you likely are right. However, one is easier to replace/fire than the other.

I think this is just downright puzzling. Is there something about John Hynes I am missing. He did not rock NJ in anyway - not sure what Poile was thinking unless he knows him well. Good luck Preds, you may need it.

Incorrect - watch the Mythbusters episode that debunks this myth.

Devils fan here, and I don't really get the hate that Hynes is getting. He is a decent coach, who had a terrible team. He got alot out of his guys and they really did respect him. He was a good soldier for NJ through a rebuild process that took a step back this year.
You can't put the Devils failures squarely all on Hynes. The defense is horrendous. Not one guy on the current roster would be a top pairing D-Man on any other team. Also, prior to December, the team has had horrendous goaltending for a long time. Not Hynes fault that he had to rely on the ghost of Corey Schneider and one Keith Kinkaid the past few seasons. Both guys got waived this season, yet that's who we relied on for multiple seasons. Even this year, they did not get even average goaltending until December when Blackwood started to take off. Hynes tried to change the system to a low event, play it safe game because of the defense and gaoltending, but that doesnt fit the forwards they have. When they started losing, he couldn't get the team's morale up, and every game they went in a shell as soon as things went bad. But that's what happens when your forwards don't trust the D and your team leader (Hall) already had one foot out of the door before the season began.
A change was needed, and I fully support firing Hynes. He can be too stubborn, not patient enough with young guys, but by no means does he deserve all of the blame in NJ. Trading Hall and changing the coach seems to have woken up the team, but sometimes thats what it takes. Regardless they still only win games where Blackwood stands on his head, because the defense is awful and they give up a ton of chances.
I actually think Hynes could do well in Nashville with a more veteran team. Ironically, he could get sunk by bad goaltending again.
