I like the Canucks this year. They went to the finals in 2011. They have been there before. In fact, Luongo is still on that roster with his cap hit.

oh boy... where does this poop come from?

Dubas likes Marincin - that's obvious since we all wondered why Babdyck continued to put in the lineup repeatedly when the guy obviously is AHL caliber.

Dubas like Barrie "RIGHT NOW" because his CAP hit fits the Leafs hemmed in defensive spend

Dubas is trying to rejuvenate Barrie since the departure of Babdyck

Dubas isn't able to pay Barrie north of 5M if that's what he wants to do....

comparing Barrie and Rielly and who loves who is only something a west coast (mini) wiener would do

Muzz is too old and slow. Dubas simply does not give big $ to guys like that.

That attitude is what leads "Experts" like Burke to every year only pick the favourites. That never works.

Cool.

Oh and burke has never claimed to be an expert.

yup.

i'm guessing the leafs move hyman/johnsson and let muz walk. should leave around 7ish for a barrie.

add a few league minimum chumps and the roster stays about the same.

I'm guessing your correct... but personally I'd rather sign Muzzin again for 3yr * 5M deal (if he takes that - I believe he would at his age or perhaps a bit less)...

I you assume that the Leafs want to keep Rielly for the next 2 years at 5M - and why wouldn't they...

then signing Barrie is an expensive luxury that they might not WANT to afford - if looking ahead to Rielly's next contract. Who do you want long term - Barrie at 6M+ or Rielly at 7M+ for term ...

I know where I'd put my money

He has a classic case Narcissistic disorder πŸ˜‚

Seriously though the Leafs are better now with the past few seasons of experience. Need to keep Freddie fresh for PO success.

Let me guess, Rielly is leaving because Leafs are in cap hell, right? We had to suffer through a year of hearing every RFA was miserable and signing offersheets last year.

The act is old. There's also an incredible double-standard with the Leafs compared to every other team.

Rielly is getting more than 7+. Especially if he rebounds, which eh will.

And I doubt Muzzin takes that deal at all.

Not true. The NHL can't even give an accurate estimate, but you can?

I would be completely down with trading Dermott - particularly if its in a package with Johnsson or Nylander to land a primo defender. Looking forward I see Sandin as capable of picking up Dermott's current role at the beginning of next season... but for comparsion don't see Dermott being able to stepping up to fill Rielly's.

You're so anxious to trade Nylander. I will probably never get that. Here's why I have a problem:

You know in 5v5 scoring, he's tied for 20th in the league among forwards with the likes of Pacioretti, Kucherov and Eichel. In 5v5 goals, he's tied for 8th with the likes of Ovechkin, McDavid, Panarin, Draisaitl, Gallagher, Pettersen and Eichel (For what it's worth, Matthews is 1st in goals, and 7th in pts).

The loss of Nylander would be significantly felt. Any return where Nylander is a part of the deal would have to be significant in terms of that impact.

Out of just forwards, Nylander is tied in points for 20th out of 277 qualified (I used 400 5v5 minutes as a qualifier). In goals, he's tied for 8th out of 277 qualified. That's top 7% and top 3%, respectively.

Put in perspective, an equivalent defenseman (using production equivalency and the 174 qualified defensemen @ 400 5v5 minutes) would be Ekholm, Ekblad or Slavin (or Morgan Rielly).

Otherwise, what are we pulling the trigger on? A deal that makes us worse . . .

This. Teams will line-up for Nylander. He is a true blue chipper and 1st line forwardw ho is only 23 and signed through his prime years at 6.9

It will have to be aheck of a DMan in return to even think about it.

yeah, i like what the muzz brings....

.... but, i saw muzz and a bunch of other leafs just loading on the bus prior to the leafs game against the yotes. muzz told my 6-year old son he'd be back to sign his autograph. he never came back.

(frank) muzz and the broken foot he walked in on. he can rot in hell.
