Yeah I think that’s what I’m leaning to as well

Flip Engvall and Kerfoot and see what happens... cause Engvall could fill the role of the board grinder and he has good enough hands to keep up to the talent of Tavares and Nylander

- Dozzer

I agree with you here. Engvall and Hyman should probably play the left side on the top 2 lines. They can do the board work, they can keep up. I think Engvall might be better than Hyman with the puck, but I think Hyman is more effective at establishing a presence and creating havoc in front of the net. Depending on which style suits which centre better, move them around.

Marner's not a big guy and not inclined to muck it up, and of course as we've all noted persistently, neither is Nylander. If both of those guys were supported by a winger who did that, it would probably create some more room.

Besides, I still like Kerfoot with Kapanen.

We should have AJ back soon too and Moore.
- Garnie

Yeah I know... who do you think gets sacrificed to put them back into the lineup?

Watching last nights game I started thinking (I know I know that’s usually a bad thing but...)

What if Keefe swapped Engvall with Kerfoot or Hyman?

Leaving either a

1: Engvall-Tavares-Nylander

Or

2: Engvall-Matthews-Marner

I wouldn’t mind seeing one of those two lines... and it still puts Kerfoot or Hyman with Spezza and Kapanen so the third line still remains strong.

Thoughts?

- Dozzer

I think you'll see Engvall get a look with the top two lines soon enough. It might not stick, but Keefe seems to be open to different combinations.

I think of all the players not named Matthews Engvall has been playing the best... he’s earned his shot.

Btw is it just me or did anyone else notice that the way the leafs were receiving passes and stickhandling they just couldn’t seem to get the puck to settle smoothly on their blades?

Seemed like they were fumbling with it a lot these last couple of games

I don’t know why he is even in the league. Why not bring up one of the kids? What is there to lose giving them some experience.
- Nighthawk

I'm not positive but I think it has to do with keeping them ineligible for the expansion draft?

If not, then there's absolutely no reason for one or both of them (Liljegren and Sandin) not to be playing in place of Marincin and Ceci.

The ice at the SBA always seems to be poop. Could be part of the reason, but if it isn't happening to the opposition than I guess it has nothing to do with it.

Not much they can do about fixing the ice conditions since they're always taking it out and putting it back in since they share the building with the Raptors + concerts and what not.

Anytime, seems we do every team a favor.

We never play a team on the second half of a back to back lol. Not even sure if we have once this year.

I didn't notice the ice as much against Edmonton. It looked to me more like they didn't come out expecting to have to work in that game. They seemed almost flat footed from the start.

Last night was awful. Neither team could really get the puck to cooperate. I do think last night was because the Raptors played the night before - but I'm guessing not much can be done about it, or they would have.

The Jets are like the Patriots without championships....just a bunch of cheaters. They probably replaced the pucks to make sure the Leafs couldn't use their magnificent stick handling skills

Maybe the Goat? The way the team has been playing, I'd almost like to see:

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Engvall - Tavares - Nylander
Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapanen
Timashov - Spezza - Moore or
Moore - Gauthier - Spezza

You demote Marchment and Brooks back to the Marlies.

Gauthier and Timashov's waiver future would depend on whether Muzzin is applicable for LTIR or not. If he is, then you don't have to worry about the cap implications of keeping both around - and when he's healthy we can demote Marincin. If he isn't, then you still need to keep Marincin and demote one of the Goat or Timashov. I'd probably vote the Goat off the island, but having additional centre depth is nice, so it's very debatable either way.

Could be but that’s every arena these days

And correct me if I’m wrong but the ice stays put and flooring gets laid down on top of it for b ball games and concerts etc?

That's correct, but I'm pretty sure I've read that the heat transference from the floor being laid on top, even though there's insulation and stuff, softens the ice, and it doesn't have enough time to properly harden. It could be vice-versa as well (it gets too cold/hard because the air doesn't get to it; I can't remember) . . .It's something along those lines. Regardless, the floor covering the ice causes a poor effect if there's only one day in-between.

Mike Babcock was such an idiot.

It seems I was right going on about Matthews' usage
