If I said Joe Thornton, would I be half-right?

I think Lemieux was one of the last people to, think I read that somewhere but I'm probably wrong.

I'd give the Hart to MacKinnon over McDavid 100%.
- LeafGuy89

I’d have to agree. The guy can dominate.

I hate him but Marchand is probably the best all around player that doesn’t get enough credit for MVP. Plays in all situations & does it at the highest level.

Fun little number crunching:

If you look at only the games Matthews has played under Keefe:

22 games, 17 goals, 10 assists, 27 points.

If you extrapolate that over 82 games, Matthews would have:

63 goals, 37 assists, 100 points.

If Marner had been healthy all season, and played 95% of the games with Matthews, and Keefe was the HC at the start, Matthews would probably have 50 by now.
- Steven_Seagull

So line-mates are important in this?

Marner has played 34 games. Bergeron 35. Seems pretty even... no?

He’s entered the bag lickers convo nobody else’s other than you. Give your head a shake if you think he has a hope. Give it more time & he will be.

The stats line up.

You are salty about it and that’s okay.

So what you're saying is... I'm probably out of line to add Marchand to the list?

McDavid plays with Draisatl and a couple of guys who were cut from my beer league team.
- Atomic Wedgie

McDavid could have the back-up goalie as a winger & still win the scoring race. If his team didn’t suck he’d have an MVP already but as said earlier the MVP comes from a PO team & McDavid has no control over that if they don’t get it together.

Solid game by JT last night. He had 2 assists... for WPG and was his normal self in OT.

this guy is the accident I cant look away from.

Talking about Toronto...again

So, the Leafs were pretty obviously trying not to win games in 2015-16.
and also after they Fired Carlyle in the 14-15 season.

And including 2012-2014 in the "Top 90 picks" makes no sense, that was the Burke/Nonis years where they had 17 total picks in 3 drafts.

Contrast that with the actual tank years 2015 and 2016 they had 20 picks in just 2 drafts.

the things that are true, the Leafs got lucky and got #1 (while tanking to get them the best chance) and the picks they ended up with fast tracked the rebuild for sure.

McCagg is a (frank)ing mess.

Honestly don't know how anyone can take him seriously.

Let me make this easy for you fellas:

It's McDavid.

End of list.

- Atomic Wedgie

McJesus is the best player in the league.

If I had a vote for the Hart, I think I'd vote for MacKinnon.

You are correct. I take no credit for this, but I was intrigued by Santo's question. I found some answer(s) in a Reddit post. Lemieux in 1987-88 finished with 168pts to Gretzky's 149. The Oilers would win the cup that year, too.

Andy Bathgate of the 1958-59 Rangers. I don't even know why. He was 3rd in goals, 3rd in points, and 2nd in assists - to Beliveau and Moore and the Habs were 1st that year. I thought perhaps the vote got split, but no . . .Bathgate had the majority of 1st place votes. Weird.

Al Rollins of the 1953-54 Blackhawks has to be my favourite. He was the goalie. The Blackhawks were 12-51-7 that year. They allowed 242 goals. The next closest was 182 against. The most offensive team had 195 goals for. So. This was not a good team. He had the worst goals against average in the league - by almost a full goal.

Our grandparents have us believing pity didn't exist back then. Pfft. Liars.
