Bigger issue is all the 5'9" defenders that are popping up on draft boards in first and second round picks.

Peart was voted by drummers as the best drummer in the world for around 25 straight years. It was his protege Mike portnoy that took the crown around 15 years ago. Peart made serious advancements in drumming. The music world has forever changed.

He was rush's lyricist as well and part of that special gift we call rush. We are blessed to have those works of art

Portnoy is pretty awesome. You can hear Peart influence in his Dream Theatre stuff. Peart was a big Buddy Rich guy. I don't think there's one definitive crown as it's pretty subjective to taste and there's some pretty great Drummers out there. I'd throw Stewart Copeland and Danny Carey on my personal list.

Not sure what draft boards he looks at, but none are that size, at least in the top 45, on the players I follow.

All very good drummers, but no list is complete without Keith Moon and John Bonham.

Copeland is right up there for sure.

As is Vinnie Colaiuta.

I kept my list to living Drummers, just to keep it small. Plus when you're discussing Drummers you just know these guys are going to be mentioned. There isn't a current rock Drummer alive that hasn't been influenced by them.

The question is, who did Neil Peart thing was the best rock drummer of all time?

Ginger Baker... and Neil was correct.

Ya true. Neil was always pretty humble when asked these things. But personally I wouldn't put Baker on Pearts' level but that's just me.

It's a debatable thing. Bonham was on a higher level than Moon IMO but both deserve mention. But really analyzing it Bonham and Moon aren't on the level of Peart, Carey or Portnoy.

Depends on what era and genre of music you are going for. For the sake of argument Neil was WRONG...but he isn't going to say, "Me", when asked who the GOAT is for rock Drumming.

Ginger Baker is awesome though.

Bonham actually revolutionized the triplet. Not an easy feat with such a boring rudiment.

Find out today. It didn't look like he was injured, but only seen minimal speculation.

I did see Baertschi leave as we were talking to Cull post-game.
Didn't really see anything noticeable.
Comets play Saturday at home vs. Belleville.

Don't forget Daney Carey from Tool. Many consider him as good or better than Portney today...but it's a tough call both exceptional drummers.
- LordHumungous

Not sure I've ever heard him mentioned in that vein.
One listen to the drumming in "the glass prison"...portnoy is the clear king without even competition
Love how he changed the rhythm every verse. Tough to do in a 13 min song

lol he's great but look at it from all angles.

Many in the music industry love Portnoy but also consider him the be a Peart clone. Not that it's a bad thing lol.

But you really should listen to and research Daney Carey. He's right there.

Listen to the new Tool album very long tracks with very complex rhythms.

I also love portnoys use of the triplet. I got sealed 2x10" subwoofers with a 400hz crossover frequency to really reveal those triplets. Brings em right out

Speculation by me .

Sven was pulled last night during the game. Gallagher is not ready again because of concussion symptoms . He was suppose to be ready this weekend and had a set back . Will not be playing. Sven and Habs have been linked to trade rumors last week.

Benning was in Utica last night and maybe something is in place pending medical reports to be completed by Gallaghers doctor?

Wait and see this weekend.
