He makes around 3.5 million so not sure who the Leafs would be willing to give up. Maybe Johnsson since it seems the Leafs haven't missed him much since Engvall has been called up.

Teams trade contracts to make deals possible all the time.

It’s simply a cap swap to make the cap hits work.

A seller just cares about prospect/picks. Ceci is just a piece to make the trade work.

Kotkaniemi is playing for them. Caulfield certainly will. I think they might have meant that from 2008 - 2016 they either failed to draft anyone of merit or they traded the player away (Sergachev for Drouin; Galchenyuk for Domi). From 2014 - 2019, only Mete and Kotkaniemi who were drafted are on their roster.

It's been pretty underwhelming.
