I really miss Torts. Maybe JD can bring him back when Quinn fails. He did hire him in Columbus.

never wanted him to leave although I did become a big AV guy

I was never really happy with AV. Especially when he pansified the whole roster.

I didn't think Torts deserved to get fired when he did, but I definitely think the AV era had run it's course

I blame Hamrlik for Torts getting canned

Torts would have Zib and Panarin playing defense and blocking shots

You know, I wasn't sure how this signing was going to go but he is already one of my favorite Rangers of all time. I can only remember Jagr, Gretzky and Bure coming in and performing even remotely like he has.

Torts is a coach who knows how to get you W's. But, his style doesn't last with the players. He was good here and had success, but as always, his time ran out.
You can only scream at adult millionaires and demand they abuse their bodies for so long before they want to find a different way to play.

I just remember at the time feeling like that 7 game series win over the Capitals punctuated by the 5-0 game 7 win in Washington was enough to get him to keep the job

they lost to the Bruins 4 games to 1 in next round but the defense was a shell, Staal was out because of his eye, they lost Stralman in game 3, which forced Hamrlik in and despite that all those Bruins games were close

it really is such a mistake that they signed him

They'd be sitting pretty and able to spend money moving forward on their blueline if they didn't do it

they better win the Cup

Don’t think they can win the cup with the way they play team defence

So was Keenan. Styles like that are all good if you win quick, but like you said it wears thin quickly.

I'm not even sure they can win a round in the playoffs. Tampa had a much better defense and goalie and was exposed last year, Toronto has a chance to lose very badly in the first round.

Not a chance. Elite offense, but unless they find a goalie who is amazing they aren't winning a cup

the only chance we have is that Hank decides to retire

that would be great, if he announced this was his last season, he'd get so much goodwill for doing that

If he retires do we get the cap space back for next season?
