He would be 33-34 when this team will (if) be a contender. Trade him while he has value.

Probably just a poop streak that leads all the way to 30th overall by April.

Hopefully.

and how is this related to the fact that you're a genetic freak who hits homeruns out of the Olympic Stadium...?

People fall in love with players.

I was talking to a guy yesterday who's saying we should keep Kovalchuk. And he khows we are years away before this team is a contender.

yeah it would be silly to keep "Kovy", but a 33 year old Tatar might still be able to complement the team and help the younger guys when/if they pan out. It wouldn't be the end of the world if they kept him

didn't I read here sometime ago that Tatar Danault Gallagher was one if the best line in the league at 5 on 5?
if so, you sign all 3 of them and give kids time to progress and eventually take spots on the top 6.
people complain their leaders (Price and Weber) are too old and the kids too young, that there's a gap between them mainly due to bad drafting. well, these 3 players are your link between old and young. have to keep them imo. in 3 years Tatar will be 32, far from finished.

I'd trade Price and Weber before Tatar Danault Gallagher.

So trade Tatar, and then try again to find a guy who's able to do the same job?

Can you though? Their contracts are a wee bit off putting.
