yes, his cap hit is less at the TDL, but that's relative......they could easily get a guy on a 1 mil contract, for probably less of an asking price, who's a significantly better player.

Ceci is an AWFUL player, who makes everyone he plays with worse. Jesus, Morgan Rielly was a Norris calibre dman last year playing with Ron (frank)ing Hainsey......this year he's been paired mostly with Ceci and has turned into a (relatively speaking) tire fire of a dman. anyone who plugs ceci into their lineup will end up being a worse team as a result.....nobody will take that deal on

- sensarmy_11

I dont think he is any good either, but i have no doubt there could be a deal to move him if the wanted to. I am not saying its positive value, but if you can move Marleau for a 1st (top 10 protected) who gives you a 6.2mil cap hit, you can move his remaining $$

It's just frustrating, that so many of those OTL's have come on the backs of 3rd period leads. It doesn't bode well for the playoffs. They need to clean that poop up or they could be bounced in the 1st round. I think they've been slugging through a bit of cup hang over (still exists without the win) this past month, month and a half.

They played just as many games as the Blues so I'll give you that.

Edit: 2 less games actually, but that's besides the point. They played just as far into the summer.

While I agree with everything else you said about Ceci, it would be unfair to suggest that the Leafs did the deal because they thought they had a diamond in the rough.

It was about dumping Zaitsev's contract.

I franking hate Ceci, and I still do that deal 10 times out of 10.

- Atomic Wedgie

if that was the case, then why did they pair him with Rielly....why not bury him on the bottom pairing, or better yet, not qualify him. they signed him and put him on the top pair

as for the deal, I think it was good for both teams. Ottawa got the better players (by far) and the leafs got the cap relief (after this year) that they needed.

I hardly even notice him on the ice half the time which is a good thing. Often forget he's even on the team lmao.

Could be that I'm drinking with a bunch of friends for 95% of the games but still.. he has been far from bad.

- LeafGuy89

Meaning he still has to improve a lot to get to being only considered "bad."

They paired him with Rielly, because our former coach was taking a shot at Dubas.

Right-hand d. Andy Mcdonald is just as poopty and had a hjgher cap hit and was still traded. If the leafs want to dump ceci at the deadline for a pick, 4th rounder likely, they will. I hope they will.

The Sens had already qualified him, before they traded him.

That qualifying offer was on the books.

Exactly.

It was our former coach that played him with Rielly, as a shot at Dubas.

I don’t use the NHL parity math my version is this.
Out of possible 103 pts in 46 games = .631

I still do W vs L, winning percentage.

MacDonald is a bad example. when he was traded, he was making significantly less than Ceci, and was a much better player. it was only after the trade that the flyers signed him to that big contract and his game fell apart. after that, he was as untradeable a player as there was in the NHL

And now he gets paid the same not having to deal/work with Dubas. So he's probably a happy man.

Other than his name being dragged through the mud afterwards and ruining his possibilites for a future job and reputation

good that Keefe has a head on his shoulders.......the proper place to play him would be with the marlies however, or in the pressbox

I know he got played a ton on the Sens, but as a 5/6 he isnt really out of place.
he just gets paid too much to be that. so thats a problem

if he was making Marincin money I wouldnt care, would be a fine fill in for a RHD when needed

oh also a team looking tank and help that cause shold trade for him and play him a ton. its a great strategy

Look, we know he's poo poo pants...but we literally have no one else.
I dont want to see Marincin out there more.

Plus we've had far worse D on the team before...so watching ceci, hasnt been a total puke fest.
He's ok on the 3rd line.
