Muzz was very solid at defending.

Several games of couldn't make a pass out of the zone without putting it tape to tape with the opponent, according to my eye test

The Leafs now know what so many other NHL teams are going through with injuries this season. Now lets see how the Leafs aforementioned great depth comes in to play.
- islansjet

Umm, the leafs never had great depth on D. It was always at forward....which we have seen them get through all their forward injuries pretty well.

Oh yeah, most teams lose the same amount of key players as the Leafs have in one season for multiple months

Reilly
Tavares
Marner
Johnsson
Moore
Muzzin
Hyman
Dermott
Kerfoot

Ok, so offensively he had some passing issues.
Defensively, I feel he was very solid.

He had some big hits, grinds it out in the corners, I'll give him that.

Am I the only one who is not really concerned about Rielly being out?
He wasnt playing great, and hasnt scored in years. the one thing he could at least do was provide a lot of offense to offset the lacking play in other areas. But he wasnt even doing that.

My Prediction is that if Muzzin is back, the Leafs play a bit better overall

- senstroll

Im only concerned cause Muzzin is already out.

"Morgan Reilly is the best defender in the league!"

"Morgan Reilly should have been a Norris Trophy Finalist!"

-Hockeybuzz Homer Leaf fans.

- RedRevenge

No one has said the above at all this season.

Nice try though.

hmm What is the rule for waiving players? Could they waive Ceci after the TDL to gain cap space then bring him back up if he isn't claimed?
- Santo_44

Don't think it applies to waivers. Believe Ceci has one-way deal so his salary would be on the books for regular season. Plus, like it or not he is at least an NHL level d-man on bottom pairing and you run the risk of a competitor claiming him and losing that depth on your roster.
LTIR is used that way for sure as player is not considered active and cap relief given.

Interesting loop hole other teams have historically used to good effect to get stacked for playoffs.

The Georgiev/TDA might have some legs...

Dermott-TDA
Sandin-Barrie
Holl-Ceci

Can send Ceci down when Rielly comes back to get cap room.

They won't need to trade him when Muzz comes back before the deadline so they can keep him after the TDL.

our 19 year-old unproven dman is the missing piece to stabilize our defense.

schenn and rielly were amazing at 19 so sandin will be too.

They can send him down and they would get a little over 1 million in cap off his cap hit.

No worries...

Rielly goes LTIR and we have his cap for the deadline and we “P. Kane” this situation to have Rielly return for Game 1 of the playoffs.

The timing is near perfect.
