Even if they did decide to move him and Georgiev, both are RFA's at season's end.. We'd have to move a lot of money out to trade for them and to re-sign them

(frank)ing offer sheets and they aren’t even Leafs yet.

We'd own the players rights but we could walk away and not give them a qualifying offer.

That would help us a lot.

Cause I have to assume a guy like DeAngelo has a lot of value and the Rangers won't just give him away?

I'm not sure I agree with that. It could get worse.
If they trade one or both at the draft for less than what they gave up.

Say they have to give up(for argument's sake) Johnsson, Bracco, Dermott and a pick.

Why then turn around and trade one of them?

- PatC80

Teams give up assets all the time for rentals and never see them again.

Dubas has said before he doesn't like getting a rental.

If they trade for these players he owns them going into the draft. He can recoup assets if need be.

At this posit he should be open to anything. No reason at all to limit options because he said something once.

Dubas traded for Muzzin last year...Do you think he was worried about him making too much the following year? Hell no. He traded Marleau and Z largely because of that move.

He doesn't like giving up assets for a player that is only going to play 2 months.

It is very fair. Look at RFA's and players with term.

Right, but you're missing the point..

UFA trades and RFA trades are not the same.. If we trade for an RFA, we own that players rights.. Why give up an asset or two to get that RFA player and then trade him? You may not get an equal or better return.
