In the next 2-3yrs i can envision bottom 6 being much cheaper than what we now have. It sucks what cap space we use there now but it’s evolving nicely.

RHD & goal scorers i see as future draft focus. C’s are always in demand & never a bad idea.

He would be considered maybe if half the team was injured.

His skating is his achilles. If he got that upgraded big he could be very useful as bottom 6 but that’s a big hope.

If I was building a team I would be drafting my top 6-9 forwards and using free agency to build my bottom 7-13

Benning made one huge mistake with Loui and The NHL slapped us with a 3 mil fine .

All the other moves I can live with including Beagle and Sutter.

That is part of it he is really only noticeable in front of the net for about one minute a game

I know I am crazy but I like Fantenberg. I think Hughes is our top guy when Edler leaves . I also would still look at Edler at the end of his contract and see if he can go another two.

Edler Myers
Hughes Rafferty
OJ Tryamkin

Fantenberg

I don't mind him. From time to time he looks a little overwhelmed, but you can say that about all of our D. I need to let this D line up marinade. Lots of interchangeable parts and I still like Tanev somewhere in there. Can't have Hughes and Stetch in the same lineup so I agree with that.

I like Tanev but it all comes down to health. I would not feel comfortable with anything longer than a two year contract.

It's the right move IMO. In order for the club to take the next step next season it would be nice to have moved on from both Edler and Tanev. Let Rafferty and Fatty step up. Just like the Sedins gone we'll be ok with Edler/Tanev gone.

I would say yes on Tanev and a definite no on Edler at this time. I see a lot of the same qualities in Fantenberg as Edler but his skills need to grow . I think protecting him and easing him in is the right way to do it.

Understandable, but the same point can be made about Edler injury wise. If you look at his career, he is a longshot to get 80 games yearly. D men get hurt as a part of the way the game is now played.

I'm still in the air on Tanev because he's younger and a RHD. We can't just let him walk. He has to lose his spot.

That’s a huge ask so soon. Edler & Tanev eat the big tough minutes & we are not quite there yet to cut bait. Other D gotta force them out to make the transition work.

As well as the Canucks are rolling, they've got a tough test ahead of them tonight.

A look at the demons they face at Bell MTS Place and in Connor Hellebuyck, in particular, plus the rest of the game setup, in the new blog:
