If they don't have hot takes for people to get mad at them for then nobody will listen to them talk about hockey.
I believe media members like that make this poop up just for the content. At least I hope so... - Aaron_85
on this theme... Lebrun was spewing (AGAIN) that a "large portion of the Leafs fan base are asking if Weber would be a fit with the Leafs"...
yes... because millions of Leaf fans want Shea Weber...
it really does make you wonder why so many people give these guys an ongoing forum or platform |

I think people have failed to female dog about Nylander correctly. I like Nylander. If I have a complaint about him, it's that his effort is predominant when there's a chance for glory, but it's waning when there isn't.
If he has a chance at the puck, at a goal, at a 2 on 1, at an offensive play, he'll hunker down and skate. He'll even throw in 2nd and 3rd effort to try and get or keep the puck where that scoring chance exists.
As soon as the chance evaporates, so, too, it seems does Willy's will to compete hard.
I think if he ever learns how to play the other side of that equation, he'll be invaluable. - Monkeypunk
so you are saying he's looking for the easy opportunities to look good?
sounds about right?

Thirst for trades. I love hearing about trades league wide personally.
Leaf fans have to realize a big trade isn't really coming anymore. The core is here and set. The time for Weber to be a Leaf has passed especially with his contract size. |

Willie the 2nd most goals in the league "net-front area"
I thought that was where soft players stay away from. - senstroll
It's funny all these stats come out saying the leafs or their players have top metrics in such and such category and yet they apparently are a lottery team to most people. |

If you want to read it that way, feel free. "Haters gonna hate" and all that jazz.
He doesn't avoid conflict when it can lead to scoring - that's the point. He has shown that demonstrably through both the eye test and the metrics. He has also shown that offensively he is good at using his tools, including his speed, to his advantage where possible.
Defensively - and I have no metric for this other than my eyes - he doesn't skate back hard enough, loses his man in coverage too often still, and has no clue how to box someone out.
This last paragraph describes a significant portion of forwards in the NHL who do not have Nylander's offensive talents. Rather than try to get rid of him because he has these shortcomings, I'd rather encourage that he work on those areas to be a more rounded player with incredible offensive talents. |

I believe Lebrun loves to troll the Leafs fan base.. getting someone to say something stupid - i.e. a potential package for Weber... so he(Lebrun) has talking points about how delusional the "leafs fanbase is" or how ridiculous the ask is for player so and so...
and then comes the RFA contract olympics... more spew... NOTHING TRUE |

Hrm.
We'll give them a 2nd & Cody Ceci for Shea Weber with 42% retained under the condition that in 2021 they have to take him back and give us a 3rd.
If they get all uppity, we can change that pick to a 4th.

I don't want to get rid of him for this reasoning either. But I know it would drive me insane as a teammate to have a guy like that - tons of talent - but far to easily "distracted". I don't question his talent , never have.
I would consider trading him simply for the reason that he represents the greatest simply choice to get a top level defenseman in return. That's not "getting rid of him", that's leveraging his value to the betterment of the team.

when you use the skatr tool to compare Willie and Mitch - senstroll
Was saying yesterday Willies production this year at age 23 is comparable to Panarins when he was 24. Was kinda laughed at. But compare those two and you will see its pretty close. One a 6.9 cap and one an 11.6.
Moral of the story, we won't be able to afford Willie when he gets to his age in 5 years if he keeps it up...

Weber had hidden value.
At a certain point, Nashville has to trade for him back, or they are franked so hard if he retires early, they would have to fold the franchise.
They have to send him to Robidas Island. |

I would guess that Weber and Nylander would get along fine... Nylander would sit at the other end of the locker room, closer to the mirrors. Weber not so much.
on the other hand... Weber might now get along with Barrie... who apparently is a defenseman as well... they might have some philosphical differences of opinion |
