If I were Poile I would be. But then I'm not sure he and Gallant had a previous relationship, so he probably wouldn't have been in the running. Who knows though, maybe they sat next to each other on a plane one time, or bumped into each other at Starbucks. A guy can hope can't he?

As much as I'd love to see Detroit get Gallant … his current deal runs through next season (signed a 4-year deal in 2017). He can chill, get paid, and … DO THIS ALL OVER AGAIN when Seattle drops the puck for the first time September 2021. Go Kraken !!!

again... Vegas is on the bubble and has been all year. last year they finished with a record which, most years, is not good enough to make the playoffs. they've been basically a .500 team for the last 18 months despite some very pricey additions. i don't see where the shock comes from.

The timing is shocking, i was expecting it to happen at the end of the season if they missed the playoffs or lost in the 1st round again. Not now, im more pissed about the hiring of the clown Deboer.

Vegas' compete level this year hasn't been what it has been the prior two years, but they are only 3 points away from 1st. We'll see how the jolt from DeBoer sparks the team forward..or not...usually his teams do well in Year 1 and then gradually decline in the standings...
Gallant will be hired again as he is a good coach and he was perfect for Vegas with how they built the team. Their problem will be what happens when Fleury leaves....

If Stan wasn't more concerned with having a puppet as HC I'd say the Hawks need to jump on this ASAP but they won't
