But how many top 6 players? If you go by "pace", which isn't always the best measure, it's Skinner (who is injured) and Sheary.
Galchenyuk has largely got top 6 minutes. If he doesn't, those totals go down. I'm not opposed to the idea of him, but his impact will not be significant. - buffalofan19
Let’s stay you go with the rumored bogo for gally swap
Gally fails ...... who cares. You let him go. His contract expires.
I rather go with gally vs a lot of our bottom 6 players.
It’s not much you are giving up and you aren’t stuck with a contract. Literally no down side |

It makes sense in theory.
The problem is that the chances of acquiring him are closer to zero than not. |

I have a better chance of banging Jennifer Lawrence tonight then the sabres have of getting Trocheck - homiedclown
I would go the Cirelli route myself. Wait till the offseason to make a move. Our salary cap space will be an asset at that point and perhaps the demand for RHD will be at that time too. |

You're not stuck by keeping Bogosian the entire year either for the same reason. And I say this as someone that wanted Bogosian gone before the Kane trade ever happened (this is hyperbole). |

Zajac could be declining but he only has one year left and could be a stop gap till Mitts is ready, if he ever will be. But he has a NTC.
Henrique's contract is worrisome and has a M-NTC and would probably not waive for Buffalo.
Bonino is an interesting option. His contract is reasonable and has only one year left. His analytics grade out very well but trading for him would be difficult.
A guy I would consider is Blake Coleman from NJ. He has one year left at $1.8 and has 18 goals this year and a +3 on a crappy Devils team. - mhp
Nice post
Coleman plays mostly wing though |

Then grab Killorn, Palat, or Johnson on the cheap then to fill one of the top 9 roles we need to fill.
The Lightning won’t be the only ones on trouble either.
Leafs have to move one of Johnsson/Kapanen or both.
Other teams will be at the cap, especially some of the teams that will have RFA’s to pay this offseason.
We don’t gain anything by making a trade now. Let the chips fall where they may. |

I think the question comes down to whether or not you feel this season is still salvageable. If so, you make a trade now, and understand you have to give up something that hurts. If not, you're better off standing pat or dumping dead weight for any asset you can get. |

Not the first time you mentioned him, I just don't see why Florida would trade him. Their center depth that you mentioned would take a big hit if he's traded (he's their #2 and frankly I don't think it's as deep as you claim). He has the best Corsi and Fenwick on the team and wears the "A". Not to mention the fact that they are in the playoff hunt and just a few points ahead of us.
We should just go after Monahan in Calgary, Girioux in Philly, Point in TB or Kuznetsov in Washington. They are all pretty good 2Cs and those teams are pretty deep at center as well. - adambuffalo
I appreciate the sarcasm, but in all honesty I think he could be had, unlike the other guys you listed here.
However, I never once said he'd be cheap. He's simply a target I'd throw the chips at. |

But at what cost ? you wanna make a splash, throw the 1st round pick this year into a deal. Renhart and Montour are gonna cost so he most likely will wait. |

For a splash i think you have to as most people dont want to deal any of our youth or prospects.

A 1st round pick this year will get a teams attention. People seem to forget, Murray was told to " speed things up" and that's what he did. This is what's left. |
