Fighting is a nonfactor and "Protecting players "is Laughable nowadays

How about we get some skill to win

Insiders say, no major trade happening this season
Is this roster capable of making up 7 pts and fighting off all 7 teams currently within 8 pts?
I'd say the GM has voted to be comfortable being a bubble team, nothing more

A consistent 45 pt producing F is rumored to be available at a cost of a 4th liner.
Sabres who have upwards of 9 F of barely 3rd really 4th line players
But they don't need him.

Sabres need a 2C to help drive needed secondary scoring for 2 seasons now
They have a 3LW holding down the fort, a 4th line playing 2nd line minutes, and a $9M scoring F wasting away (thank goodness he's hurt else the comments would have run to 10k on the old blog)
But we don't want tweeter 2C/3C for short-term as placeholder until Cozens or Mitrs develop properly, cause damn it they won't help us win the Cup
Instead we want a long-term proven 2C that is young to fit our timeline...all at 3C/4C prices

The HC has done a nice job of installing a system that limits opponents HDSC, has developed most of the Core and Complimentary players very nicely, effectively limited the duration when the team flounders by bringing them around again...with one of the most unbalanced, deficient roster in key positions
But he sucks

YOU PEOPLE ARE NUTS...WHAT ARE YOU ON DRUGS?

TB 13 fighting majors this season (same as AVs)
Caps 11
Bruins 8

So one fight every 3-4 games is a nonfactor?

Sabres have 3. Perhaps with a guy like Reaves we don't have scrubs taking liberties on guys like Dahlin and Olofsson.

I know hockey is played on ice, but they make it nowadays. No need for Snowflakes in the NHL.

Sabres powerplay is 3rd in the league at 6-16 in the month of January.

Ranks per month are as follows.

2nd in October
31st in November
23rd in December
3rd in January

Records per month are as follows.

9-4 in October - 69% w%
3-11 in November - 21% w%
5-9 in December - 36% w%
4-2 in January - 67% w%

Quality of competition is obviously a factor as well, but by simply cherrypicking PP stats per month, they directly correlate with team w% per month.

Do special teams matter? They need to matter with this team.

I was waiting for this to be posted but I didn’t want to do it and stir the pot myself.

Vegas

$110 for upper end zone including food and drink with a large preordered group of Sabres employees in oct 2017

$225 with fees in 2018, few rows up Sabres shoot twice end, behind the net. ( This is after the knights promised 2 years to the Sabres group, and backed out once they were good) "we changed our policy of selling ticket out of state "

We need to start games with a better 1st period. We are being outscored 47-34 in the first. When trailing after one we are 5-12-5.

On the flip side, when we are leading after the first period we are 8-2-1, and an astonishing 17-1-0 when leading after two.

On the road when the opponents score first we are 0-9-4.
Are we still not having morning skates? I wonder if that has had any factor on the slow starts.

Let’s stay you go with the rumored bogo for gally swap

Gally fails ...... who cares. You let him go. His contract expires.

I rather go with gally vs a lot of our bottom 6 players.

It’s not much you are giving up and you aren’t stuck with a contract. Literally no down side

I'll preface this with the fact that fighting is a skill in itself. A few of the guys leading the league in fighting majors this year: Deslauriers, Lemieux, Calvert, Watson and Maroon. Not sure where you are going to rank their skills, but Reaves, who has less fights than any of these guys, has similar scoring to all of them with the exception of Calvert.

When the Sabres got off to a hot start .... we all knew it was because of the PP. we literally couldn’t score 5 on 5. Technically we still can’t lol

Sabres PK on the season is 74.8% with only three teams being worse. In four games with Frolik it's 81.8% which would tie us for 12th in the league. Not saying it will hold up, but three of those games were against 4th, 6th and 9th best power plays in the league.

So adding the improved PP numbers with the improved PK numbers should mean absolutely nothing because special teams don't matter.

I think the question comes down to whether or not you feel this season is still salvageable. If so, you make a trade now, and understand you have to give up something that hurts. If not, you're better off standing pat or dumping dead weight for any asset you can get.
