19- pretty sure the writing is in the wall

Next year is the focus. Always has been.

Wish Botts would’ve told the fans he wasn’t trying for the playoffs this year before it started.

I'd post it if I saved it, which I didn't as I was just doing it out of curiosity.
I tried to be conservatively realistic (error on moderately high side).
Like Lazar from $700k up to $1.375 as an example.
I want to say Olo got a bridge deal around D $4.0 - $4.25m

Trade was not defined, only that I used Risto as the bait in a package with 1st being top 10 protected and with a prospect (Tage if I recall correctly)...that was for a 2C at $8m.

That roster would have some issues to deal with after the bridge deals, but Mojo drops off as well along with Cap going up the season after Seatfle and TV contract comes online .

EDIT: Mitts was bridged as well, then sent to AHL for the 2020-2021 season.
As with anything, debates can be had, but I tried to be reasonable

Good post

Olo at 4+ seems high. Guessing 2 years for 6.5-7.0

meanwhile I could not sell my last Toronto game on a Saturday night 4 rows up in section 318 for 30.00 ea. I ate the tickets...

That game was a really odd selling game.
I sold 5 of my 8 seats in 314 for $100 each early on craigslist
I sold the other 3 right before StubHub shutoff
All 3 for $102 - $34 each

Been in the same boat
It was easier for em to sell 1 game last year with 4 seats (the guy next to me on the end)
Total 467.50

than this year 2 separate games with 2 seats
total on 1st game 170

The sad thing is I thought this years games were on better dates then last year

He would be the first gm in any sport that would say that.

That's the only way he would get fired this season

Yep, I learned with 4 seats to allow people to buy 3.
Then sell the single.

StubHub- always harder to find odd #'s seats.

I mean I figured they’d finish in the 10-15 range before the season started.

They are starting to play with my emotions though that they may finish lower then my expectations and we’ll get to pick in the 7-9 range barring lotto luck.

Can’t get caught up on 10 game sample sizes and ride the roller coaster of emotions throughout the season and it won’t lead to unrealistic expectations.

Most people do, try listing them as singles.
It might suprise you.

I was worried about selling a single, but suprisingly people go by themselves or want to sit near their friends ect as an afterthought.

Yeah, I’m not convinced that Botts will try for the playoffs next year either. I think he’ll re-sign several of the players already here. He’ll count on a couple young guys coming up and making a difference. Nothing dramatic, and not enough to surpass TB, BOS, TOR, or FLA.

Sabres PK on the season is 74.8% with only three teams being worse. In four games with Frolik it's 81.8% which would tie us for 12th in the league. Not saying it will hold up, but three of those games were against 4th, 6th and 9th best power plays in the league.

So adding the improved PP numbers with the improved PK numbers should mean absolutely nothing because special teams don't matter.

- adambuffalo

You knew it was coming...

Over the last 10 games, going back to the Ottawa game before Xmas break, the Sabres were 4-6; with having taken 36 penalties, and allowed 7 PP goals against. I used 10 games as a reasonable sample size for this discussion...I did not consult a PhD in Statistics to see if my back of the envelop would stand up to Supreme Court levels of inquisitions.
(I felt this disclaimer was necessary after yesterday's challenge on looking back over 4 years to find a decent number of potential C's were moved that could reasonably step into a 2C position).

Anyway, the additional 7% of PK efficiency you cited, when you look at the 6 losses over those 10 games could have mattered in 1 game that was decided by 1 Goal with enough
a) penalties taken (7+) to generate 1/2 goal less than actually scored
B) goals scored (1+) by the opponent to be able to reduce the goals scored

So, I still say that spending the 4th on Frolik with the justification that he'll help with the PK enough to matter is, well good posturing...that is it.
Also, if the same personnel produced a PK rate of 80.93 while league average was 80.22 last year, they should be in that league average this year except for the PK system used this season.

Zajac would be 8th in points on the team, 6th for forwards

Bonino would be 4th in points on the entire team

Henrique would be 4th among forwards, 5th overall

Dont let perfect be the enemy of good

- jcragcrumple

Henrique is average, not “good”
And his contract blows

Bonino would be a good addition if we could somehow pry him from Nashville
I’m sure they’d much rather get rid of Turris
But that’s another average player with a crappy contract that i want no part of

Zajac doesn’t do much for me either
Turns 35 at the end of this season
On pace for 10goals & just over 30pts
1 more year at 5.75m

I know he actually a center...
But i think I’d rather put that $$$ towards a UFA winger, and just stick with MoJo at 2C
