I get that part, punting to next year.
But, why not take a look at sam at 2c?
Does anyone have any idea or thoughts?
Aside from his speed - Boss34
I actually don't want to punt this year Boss, they can play good hockey when they keep there heads, for some reason that doesn't seem to happen for long stretches. If they can keep there poop together, what says they can't go on another run like they had in the beginning of the year |

Better question, does he come close to getting one here? Or are we like 3 points better in the standings still treading water? - sbroads24

How many guys on this team are slower than Sam? Are there any?
I really don't know why people are still talking about him at C. - Lunaion

Coach’s job to get consistent effort out of his players. Unless there’s something else that accounts for the team’s lack of consistency? |

Mostly goaltending and the fact our PK sucks (also due to goaltending)
We have scored more goals than Arizona, Calgary, Dallas, Islanders, and Blue Jackets whom are all in the playoffs or 2 points out (CBJ).
Im not saying scoring the 18th most goals in the NHL is impressive however this team does defend very well and it would only help matters of our goalies were even just average the rest of the way going forward.
The Sabres can win a lot of 2-1 and 3-2 games. We might be dull but we defend well enough to win a few games here coming up with the schedule becoming a little lighter through February.
The march to picking 12th begins, hopefully I’m wrong because I’d love to pick in the 7-9 range. |

I think your assessment of the Sabre’s fatal flaw is right on.
And 12th seems about right for them to pick in the upcoming draft. Moving up is possible, but so is moving back. Deep draft, and someone always unexpectedly drops, they should be fine. |

Miller played in 170 games over 3 seasons for Rochester before he was up with the Sabres full time
Johansson has played 37 games over 4 years for Rochester - jdfitz77
But did he cry when Detroit shellacked him?
Inquiring minds want to know. |

Goaltending is an issue but it’s more of a backup issue. If Hutton was capable of playing 2 out of 5 games, we wouldn’t be in this situation.

Ullmark is ideally an above average back up in my eyes that could play around 30 games or so.
Look at what Elvis Merzlikins and Korpisalo have done for Columbus since mid December. That team has no business being 2 points out of a playoff spot but they are getting immaculate (yet unsustainable) goaltending.
Goaltending make a lot of coaches look smart, also can lead many coaches to get fired despite good overall team play. They can mask a lot of issues.
We all know the Sabres lack secondary scoring, however average goaltending and average special teams would go a long way in helping the existing roster achieve as much as it can with what it’s got.

For as crummy as the Sabre goaltending has been, I’m glad they don’t spend too much money on the position. Not a big believer in carrying a high pricetag goalie. Too costly to have a guy like Price. |

I think Ullmark could handle 3 of 5 temporarily its this 4 of 5 or 5 of 6 that just isn’t him.

That's what I mean. Name a popular rock group right now. Muse? If the HOF only inducted rock, right now they would have bands to choose from that the public at large doesn't give a poop about. - jcragcrumple
My two favorite bands are Radiohead and The Boxer Rebellion. Who gets to decide what is and what is not rock? Just because it does not sound like what you enjoy, does not mean it isn't rock. (general comment not directed at you Jcrag) |

Yes it is on the coach, but the players have to take some responsibility for that to. Not the coach bringing out bad habits that seem to plague them from time to time |
