sandin looks like he's going to be a star.

but before we put his name in ink on the roster for the rest of the year, let's see how sandin does against a more physical team; particularly one more than half a step up above an ahl quality team.

i'm not sold on him being able to handle a physical playoff series just yet.

Oh Lord, it's starting already.

It's like franking clockwork in Leafs Nation:

- declare a young defenceman to be the bestest ever.
- become angry when he doesn't live up to the unrealistic expectations in his first 40 games
- run him out of town.

it's the deja vu that unites us all.

Trade Kerfoot? But, we just got him?
- PatC80

That was before enqval and mikayev looked like keepers.

I like watching TSN on deadline day. What I wish though is they would start the show later on. 8 or 9am is too early. Nothing happens. Bigger deals are done days - weeks in advance these days.
- Aaron_85

Yup it has lost its lustre. So many teams up against the cap makes for a less than a great show. Offseason & draft day are where it’s shifted to.

Martinez to me is a maybe slightly better Cody Ceci that shoots left
the players like him that I dont watch I was playing around with the skatr comps and some NST data, and the common names out there like Dillion are pretty meh and not much of an upgrade.

I would be fine swapping out Marincin for Dillion if you want a little more grits but he is 3x the cap hit.

im with you, the list is pretty small. Petry, brodin, Lindholm.
Dubas probably trades for someone nobody was thinking about

- senstroll

He’s a pretty outside the box thinker.

Not many were expecting Muzzin because he’s a LHD.

Georgiev to Detroit. Book it!

That's my hot take trade this year.

I’m pretty high on him and I have been since I saw him play last year in the A.

He flew by Liljegren like it was nothing.

Good kid and he chose not to take any bonuses so he could play in the NHL easier.

Torts has CBJ playing good & Anderson won’t come nearly that cheap. I’ve wanted him also but i expect him to stay put.
- Nighthawk

He has them playing good while anderson has been on the shelf. Anderson has 2 bloody goals in his last 36 gp.

Because newsflash, anderson is a dumpster fire right now. And enqvall is > then kerfoot. And probably equal to jenner.
- mykokes

JK is no dummy to sell low besides there is zero panic in CBJ.

I can see them taking Ceci back if they aren't retaining salary for next year too.

Clears a lot of space for Montreal next year.

Side note: I find it funny they have 4.4 million buried in the AHL.

- Aaron_85

Could a team like the Avs be interested ? They have a massive amount of cap space.

Or a team like the Cbj. They are a bubble team but have a massive amount of cap space and why not add a 3rd pairing D for cheap for a potential playoff run?

This notion Ceci can’t be traded is ridiculous.

I was with you. Hes a legit blue chipper. Wedgie can downplay it as koolaid drinking or maple leaf disease, but our eyes arent deceiving us.

He’s been amazing in the A.

Better than both Dermott and Lil(although he has really turned it on the past few months)

Looks good in the NHL so far at 7 games in...yeah I’m hyped about him.

So you think sandin is just a little better than poop. Or that he is poop?

easily knocked off the puck, falls down at lot and takes a lot of penalties. i don't like him at C at all.

he seems to fit in well with tavares and willy though

- Tumbleweed

I like him at LW as well, he seems to play well with Nylander and Tavares. With that said, I like Engvall with Tavares and Nylander more.

If we still had Mikheyev, I could see Dubas moving Kerfoot.

Is mikheyev back by the deadline? That's why i was fine moving kerfoot. Fact is we have too many forwards when everyone is healthy.

Were you saying similar about Barrie?
Rare that a GM bails on a player to sell low. The loss of Panarin had a domino effect I’d like to see any team survive. NYI didn’t miss JT & actually surprised everyone last year & this.

Tough to give up a player that can play center.

I’m not too comfortable with Spezza as a 3C going into playoffs and for sure not into next season. If he goes down it’s Goat as 3C.

Kerfoot stays.

Kerfoot wouldn't be moved until next season. Dubas would be silly to take a handful of games and deem Micky and Engvall better than Kerfoot. We can't just trade every guy for a cheaper guy who shows up for part of the season. The younger guys have to be consistent first.

Essentially you're telling me you want to get rid of a consistent NHL player for possibly a Cheechoo

If the NYI has Tavares right now they’d be a better team. Much better.

Let’s not lie to ourselves and think an elite center doesn’t make your team better.

Nope. I thought babsuck was using the entire lineup wrong. As for Anderson, hes prettt much gone david clarkson since last years deadline. But could the leafs, who have enough scoring use him, sure. But its moreso getting cecis cap hit out of here.

looking more info it, Jeff Petry feels like the best option, still putting up really good #s
RHD

5.5 cap hit. so something around Andreas Johnsson + other things to make cap work (ceci please)

- senstroll

We'd have to add a lot of sweetener. There will be a big market for Petry.

he's was outstanding as an 18-year dman playing with men in the AHL last year; set the record for points for that age.

he looks slick, confident, quick and smart with the puck.

i am seriously worried he will actually die if we play him against boston in the playoffs. i will be plenty happy to see him back in the ahl after 20 or so regular games this year.

but he as the tools to be very good.

Av’s are in great shape to do better than Ceci if Burnaby Joe makes moves. He can stand pat but in goal is where he is probably more concerned. Makar is fantastic & Byram is next in the horizon. The Av’s are looking scary for years to come like no other team imo.
