Tough to give up a player that can play center.

I’m not too comfortable with Spezza as a 3C going into playoffs and for sure not into next season. If he goes down it’s Goat as 3C.

Kerfoot stays.

- Santo_44

You have two guys who play center...spezza and Enqvall.

Nope. I thought babsuck was using the entire lineup wrong. As for Anderson, hes prettt much gone david clarkson since last years deadline. But could the leafs, who have enough scoring use him, sure. But its moreso getting cecis cap hit out of here.
- mykokes

I don't know if Dubas wants to bring that problem in here if Anderson continues to go Wayne Simmonds.

Who says the BJs are trading him anyway? They have cap space and don't need to move anyone right now.

Georgiev to Detroit. Book it!

That's my hot take trade this year.

- Aaron_85

Hmm that's pretty hot. I will go outside the box and say he goes to the Sharks in a desperation move where they trade their last asset Merkley

Kerfoot wouldn't be moved until next season. Dubas would be silly to take a handful of games and deem Micky and Engvall better than Kerfoot. We can't just trade every guy for a cheaper guy who shows up for part of the season. The younger guys have to be consistent first.

Essentially you're telling me you want to get rid of a consistent NHL player for possibly a Cheechoo

- Aaron_85

Cheechoo played defense?

We'd have to add a lot of sweetener. There will be a big market for Petry.
- Aetherial

If he wasn’t on the Habs I think we’d all be thinking Dubas would add him.

The fact that he is on the Habs makes it tougher to think it’ll happen.

I think Dubas has the balls to deal with the Habs but I doubt Bergevin does.

Is mikheyev back by the deadline? That's why i was fine moving kerfoot. Fact is we have too many forwards when everyone is healthy.
- mykokes

Mikheyev might be back for the playoffs.. I hope

Engvall hasn’t played enough C to warrant trading Kerfoot.

Maybe in the off-season but for this playoff run no.

I like him at LW as well, he seems to play well with Nylander and Tavares. With that said, I like Engvall with Tavares and Nylander more.

If we still had Mikheyev, I could see Dubas moving Kerfoot.

- PatC80

I still think this was a bigger loss than we realize. The couple weeks leading up to the injury you could really see this guy had adjusted to the NHL game and was becoming an important piece.

he's was outstanding as an 18-year dman playing with men in the AHL last year; set the record for points for that age.

he looks slick, confident, quick and smart with the puck.

i am seriously worried he will actually die if we play him against boston in the playoffs. i will be plenty happy to see him back in the ahl after 20 or so regular games this year.

but he as the tools to be very good.

- Tumbleweed

Boston wasnt even all that physical in the series against us, that's played out.. a few runs at our guys and that was about it.

No different than any other team in the playoffs.

I'm saying if Mikheyev was healthy, that I would be ok if Dubas decided to trade Kerfoot.

If the NYI has Tavares right now they’d be a better team. Much better.

Let’s not lie to ourselves and think an elite center doesn’t make your team better.

That’s a totally different convo.

Yeah, it's pretty tough to trade in the division, particularly if you are making a deal with the team you hope/believe you will be competing with for a playoff spot.

He can probably ship Petry many other places, and will.

Don’t mention Clarkson geez. Teams will line up for Anderson if he hit the market. JK is in no rush to move him.

Jenner, Anderson and Savard for Kerfoot, Ceci, Bracco and Johnsson..

That would be good too

Av’s are in great shape to do better than Ceci if Burnaby Joe makes moves. He can stand pat but in goal is where he is probably more concerned. Makar is fantastic & Byram is next in the horizon. The Av’s are looking scary for years to come like no other team imo.

Glad I was defending Sakic a couple years ago when everyone wanted his head for not trading Duchene quickly enough

No, my point was we could end up with a guy who has 3 seasons comprised of a great one, a good one, an okay one and then just plummets.

Byram (just going by stats cause I never see any WHL games) hasn't looked all the great this season as the year prior. And what I seen of him at the WJC he didnt stand out that much.

Hard to make out how he will be at the NHL level, but if I were to guess he would be a 3/4 defenseman and nothing more.

But like I said, still so early to decide that.

Yeah I just think that is still too soon. Kerfoot is for sure an NHLer. Mickey could end up the next Zaitsev.

But also, from Bergavin’s standpoint prying away younger talent from the Leafs is a good thing.

It’s possible. If he wants just futures I say it’s not happening.

But Johnnson, Bracco for Petry, pick is pretty tempting

Bergevin has made moves with Ottawa and so have we. Mainly just using them as a dumpster though, so not sure if either would be willing to trade players to actual good rival teams.

Personally I can't see it happening, but if it did I would defintely be happy with taking Petry.
