They would bring at best a first pick and b prospect or a second round, and that’s from a playoff team so likely a late pick
- Fredo

ding ding ding ding!! we have a winner!

what's the point of trading Tatar for a late 1st rounder?? Tatar will score 25 goals per year for the next 5 years. what are the odds a late first round pick will do the same?
close to 0, especially with Timmins still in charge.

Philip Danault was a late 1st round pick. If Timmins knew how to draft they wouldn't have to trade for those...

I think Fonstad, Hillis and McShane have a shot at the NHL...we'll have to see how they fare in the AHL first though.
- BashCH

I agree.... and I never said any would become all stars, just that all 3 we're really good late picks and have done even better since being drafted... I dont care that it's the OHL, you want these prospects to succeed wherever they play

So, just keep going around in circles then?

And a team would give you a decent D prospect for Tatar, no point in that either I guess.... much better to have Tatar score 20 goals for the next 5 years for a non playoff team

That's why they're called prospects, nobody in a playoff spot is gonna give you a good, young established defenseman

The three of them won't be signed on June 1st, gotta make sure they have enough contract slots for the Nick Cousins qualifying offer.

They could draft another McDonnagh - Pacioretty - Subban with their 1st a late first they acquire for Rivest Tatar and their second.

Wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them isn't offered a contract.
