All Lazar on that goal. He should be one of the 3 stars of the game

You said you didn’t think Sam could survive without Jack.
- PrinceChill

So that means he sucks, said I doubt he sniffs 60pts without Jack.

Where in any post does it say Sam sucks, funny how you guys like to add this to make it look better. It's called helping your team, especially when VO and Eichel started clicking. Rhino came into the draft as a playmaker, just maybe he could have gotten Skinner going.
- Buff36

Your issue is with Mr. Krueger, not Sam.

I forgot all the time that he got on the second line. Sounds like a coaching issue. There are plenty of teams that don’t split up duos because they work. Getz/Perry, guentzel/Crosby, OV/backstrum just to name a few. Very rarely are these guys not playing with a completely different line. But Sam can’t do it so he sucks
- SDSabre

He did spend a good chunk of last season on the second line. It was very forgettable.

Our middle 6 is among the least productive in the NHL again. Only natural to talk about guys who should be able to help that. When you don't have a good 2C, it also makes sense to talk about wingers who could drive a line.

I listened to the game on the radio. Heard his name all night. Glad to see (hear) he is shining. He was really good in the preseason. He should have been on the team all year

Sigh. I never said that you said he sucks. I thought your notion that he couldn’t “survive” without Jack to be a gross overstatement.

He was really good tonight. They really took it to us physically. He's one the guys who stands up to it well.

How about keeping Line 1 the way it us, successful.
Then, maybe Botts could get off his ass and get a friggin 2C to drive that line with Mojo and Skinner!
But our friggin GM apparently Is
-too busy working potential trades for ERod and Bogo so that he can get conditional 7th in 2030 such that he doesn't let an asset get away free
- can only work on one thing at a time, he has to see what Sam will cost first

Let's put the focus on the right area.

- IonSabres

Yeah... all those 2Cs getting traded this year,
and Botts has t been in on any of them

Oh, wait.....

The Sabres and Stars are very comparable tbh. They kicked our a$$ in the second but a good half of the first and for a majority of the 3rd we beat them at their own game.

Sold defensive hockey.

Special teams was the difference tonight. PK went 4/4 and Ullmark made the saves he had to and apart from the first goal didn’t give up any more softies.

Sabres are best when they play like that.. Lazar's earning a new contract. He can have Erod's money. I bet you can pay him less, too.

Listen, we’ve all had this debate 100 times over. He is what he is and that fact he went 2OA doesn’t change that. He got the moniker skunk from all the hate he got. It’s not his job to set the lineup and it’s not his job to go to the coach to set the lineup. The coach likes the Sam-Eichel chemistry. What do you want from the guy other then to do his job better then about half the other first line players in the NHL.

Simply a great road win. What a team effort. Bring that every night and nobody is going to complain.

Big shout out to local boy Curtis Lazar. Can we all agree that Lazar > EROD and that Lazar should be re-signed at the end of the season?

Go Sabres Go.

He is doing his job, he is a good hockey player. I just don't think the coach thinks he can drive a line, cause it would have made to much sense to do it, and give Skinner a playmaker

Lazar was by far the best player on the ice. Sometimes it just takes time for it to click for a high draft pick. He should be here to stay even when Skinner and Olofsson come back. Is he a UFA at year end?

We got Lazar for free, not for a first round pick. Huge difference.

Regardless of what u invest in a player,
they are what they are

If anyone still has typical 2OA expectations for Sam, that’s on them

Or, hear me out, that first line was on a (frank)ing tear and the only thing keeping the whole team afloat on some nights. If he’s doing his job (at least decently well enough) then why is he brought up around here so often as the person who needs to be taking this giant leap. I’ll take a steady 70 points from Sam year in and out and be perfectly happy with his production

Close but no cigar. Frank you Frolik and Zemgus and your goals without the goalie in the net

Pretend he signs an 8yr@ 8m deal. Are those expectations higher or lower than 2OA?
