Sabres PK on the season is 74.8% with only three teams being worse. In four games with Frolik it's 81.8% which would tie us for 12th in the league. Not saying it will hold up, but three of those games were against 4th, 6th and 9th best power plays in the league.
So adding the improved PP numbers with the improved PK numbers should mean absolutely nothing because special teams don't matter.

You knew it was coming...
Over the last 10 games, going back to the Ottawa game before Xmas break, the Sabres were 4-6; with having taken 36 penalties, and allowed 7 PP goals against. I used 10 games as a reasonable sample size for this discussion...I did not consult a PhD in Statistics to see if my back of the envelop would stand up to Supreme Court levels of inquisitions.
(I felt this disclaimer was necessary after yesterday's challenge on looking back over 4 years to find a decent number of potential C's were moved that could reasonably step into a 2C position).
Anyway, the additional 7% of PK efficiency you cited, when you look at the 6 losses over those 10 games could have mattered in 1 game that was decided by 1 Goal with enough
a) penalties taken (7+) to generate 1/2 goal less than actually scored
B) goals scored (1+) by the opponent to be able to reduce the goals scored
So, I still say that spending the 4th on Frolik with the justification that he'll help with the PK enough to matter is, well good posturing...that is it.
Also, if the same personnel produced a PK rate of 80.93 while league average was 80.22 last year, they should be in that league average this year except for the PK system used this season. |

I think he is planning on waiting for Cozens and Mittelstadt to fill the center position and waiting for UPL to fill the goalie position. I think he sees us as being two or three years away from being good.
I think he will bring back almost the same exact team. - Beethoven
With all of the expiring contracts????? Why would he not try to make at least a few upgrades? |

Don’t worry, he’ll say he “tried to make upgrades”. He likes doing that. |

Nobody can be this stupid, or think their balls are that big to trott out Plan C for a 3rd straight year.
I'd friggin absolutely love to hear the Botts-blowers try and justify that one.
Holy fvck, resign Sobotka to roll on line 1 and have Jack playing Goalie would take less sack than that. |

I fully expect Botts to go for it next year, I have come to the realization that it was planned all along or he would have been fired already. I think 1 of the 2C or RW will come in FA and the other will come in a trade. He will finally have some of his draft choices entering the system. I believe the Pegula's learned from their mistake with TM of trying for the quick fix because it set this Franchise back another 6 yrs. They really are not that far off, they can play good hockey when they stay consistent on the ice, just don't get that enough. |

I never said to overpay for them, you said those kind of players don't come available. |

Let’s just fold the franchise then. We can’t draft, can’t sign UFA’s well, can’t make trades, can’t tank properly.
Just fold it. |

That's a false narrative, gotta stop with this BS.
On average 4-5 move annually based on recent 4 year history.
In fact, over that 4 year period 17 moved.
Some may say, "that guy isn't a 2C" ... maybe not technically, but he produced as one of the best 62 C 's .. as 62 C's are either 1st or 2nd on their team (31x 2 = 62). Some teams have 3 that are close in TOI, Pts, Fo's taken...hence why I looked at more than 62 strickly.
A guy like JT Miller technically isn't a 2C, but he has takes 500-700 FO's, plays those minutes and produces...dare say I on the Sabres he could be our 2c ...certainly better than Mojo.
Only 1 of the named guys moved last season...probably because Botts balked at the price (right, wrong or reasonable no one knows except him and the other GM)..or else that number should have been 2.

Sure and I’ll be the first to remind everyone one here when we are winning and praising the new GM that it was because of Botts’ patience and drafting. |

my biggest issues
he did nothing when the team was fading in December last season
he did nothing when the team was fading in late November this season
2 times, the team jumps out hot
then the team folds
bring in vesey and miller, but bury them
it's almost as if the coach and gm are not on the same page |
