Does it? Who is the lesser opponent the Red Wings come out flat against?
- PLindbergh31

They are 12-32-3. How can you tell when they are flat?

It happens to every team.
- Scoob

Yes, I agree. It seems to happen to us A LOT. Over a few seasons as well. We can blame the schedule, travel, etc. I just think there is a pattern here.

During Pronger's short stint here he talked about giving a strong effort every game. Never allowing the team to lose two games in a row. Other little tidbits that make me wonder what would have happened if he was healthy. Of course, we'd still be paying him through 2030 or something like that.

it's usually when they are stuck in place and there's a lack of edges on their skates

He didnt steal the game though. Flyers had 40 shots but not many of them were not high danger. Price had an easy night. JVR alone had 8 shots last night and I would say 6-7 of them were his side of the net short side attempts that hardly ever work.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

He wasn’t great but didn’t have to be. A lot of our good chances price didn’t even touch as we couldn’t hit the net. Hence flyers not so much. But I thought price had some good saves in there with his sly movements.

That was a really tough loss. Now the Flyers are 10th in the East with CBJ in 9th as they have two more regulation wins.

The Athletic says they now have a 47% chance to make the playoffs. And if they miss out again, I would expect some major personnel changes.

As an aside, I'm curious what the cause of the disparity between Washington and Boston is on this? I don't see anything in the Caps game lately that would suggest they drop off so hard in the postseason

I’m sorry but I would have a chance on a one year deal with Kovy because of the loss of Lindblom alone. Missed opportunity.
- SuperSchennBros

Do you know if the Flyers failed to contact him? Maybe they did and he wanted to play elsewhere.

Do we have any evidence to support the claim that Flyers "did not go" after him?
It might be just pure speculations on the part of some posters.

Yeah very true. Maybe they did?

My comment was just about assuming they didn't. Even if they didn't, I understand why.

I think we are one of the worst shooting % teams in the league...

I think the comment was sarcasm

Its arbitrary. No team has a 100% chance at the playoffs. If you havent clinched theres a chance you miss. Wouldnt trust the chart at all

If the Flyers don't lose to the Kings and Sharks on that road trip I don't think the loss last night is as big of a deal. It's kind of amazing how often they play down to their oppenent, then a game or 2 later beat some of the best teams in the league.

I feel like I am constantly seeing him leave his side in front of the net, resulting in both defenders being on the same side with a man wide open where you would expect Myers to be.
- Ftown19125

The Flyers play a combination of an overload and man to man defense systems play in the defensive zone. Myers individual coverage has been very poor this season but there are many situations where systems wise all 5 skaters will be on the same side of the ice.

Major personnel changes may happen if they miss the playoffs but other than a trade of a veteran, the Flyers should sit tight.

i know. i've seen you say this quite a few times. just feels like players are left wide open in front of the net more often when he's on the ice. could also just be more noticeable to me because people on here mention how bad his coverage has been too.

I think Myers just needs to add an upgrade to his toolbox. I don’t mean to take from what he does really well or make him change the type of player he is. However, if I drew a bubble around the net front to the slot and told him that to be successful he needs to put forth his highest physical compete level anytime he is in the bubble...he is a big guy and a smart guy...he can win most battles. Experience will of course help, but I think he needs more ...grit? there.

He just has to use experience points to upgrade his attributes.

Really not liking the chemistry between Giroux and Hayes. I think they need to be separated on both the PP and even strength. They're both failing to react to eachother and looking for the other to get open.

Yea I figured it was solely the writers' opinions, just curious if they justified that oddity since I can't read the article.

I know The Athletic is pretty generally respected, just not sure I can understand why the writer(s) of this piece would think Washington falls off so hard in postseason.

Kovy said publicly from my understanding that he wanted to play for a playoff team and landed with the Habs. In fact, it’s mid season. It’s only logical to sign with a playoff contender...but he landed with the Habs.

AV said last night that he has no intentions of breaking up Coots line, so those 3 have to get it going and he expects much more from them.

Hayes in particular has looked lost when he's with G for some reason (both now and beginning of the season). TK seems like he's going about business as usual, but G and Hayes don't seem to mesh very well.

One of these things is not like the other.

Joking aside, Dreger mentioned the Habs would more likely than not look to deal Kovy at TDL if they don't drastically improve by then.

In my opinion the reason why Myers has been scratched frequently when all defenseman are healthy is that his defensive coverage around the net and down low has been poor all season.

The one thing I hated seeing is on the one PP against the Habs, Hayes was along the half wall in the normal spot that Giroux was stationed at in previous seasons and seeing Hayes handling the puck for majority of the time. I'm sorry but that is not Hayes strength. He should be down low or in the slot. He is not a puck distributor and he certainly doesn't have the playmaking skill that Giroux has. It doesn't make any sense.
