That’s a big comparison. Would be nice. Botts letting Lehner go then bringing in Hutton has been a disaster. |

or mccabe and a second - homiedclown
For a guy that left the team voluntarily, and for a team that clearly doesn't think much of him as a player?
Both offers are too much to give up in that regard. |

After Lehner's 'act' on and off the ice here, they were never going to sign him, and they shouldn't have. It was the right move. |

I don't get it
Botts gave Lehner a year to prove it, he was awful on the ice. He also was going through a lot personally.
But now because he has seemed to get his life in order people are calling it a mistake to let him go?
The guy played in a great system for the Islanders and has come back down a bit to the goalie he was here originally save percentage wise.

I'm on board with team looking to sign or trade for 2 centers before next season.
They have Eichel and Larsson that are reliable and nothing else. Even if it's lower level 3C signings, having actual solid centers would be a great help next year, and it would stop the lunacy of waiting and relying on Casey and Cozens to be fully ready. |

Held onto him too long. Should of traded him first year he was here |

He was top 10 in save % his first two years here. Having another great year in Chicago too, albeit as a shared role. |

He's also poop on Buffalo multiple times since he left. Good riddance. |

Can he stop a beach ball in the shootout yet? |

Ullmark has a better GAA than Lehner does this year, sure his save percentage is better.
But acting like letting him go was a mistake on Botts is laughable

I think they take him out on shootouts. Something we should have done too. |

It's a shame we traded that 1st for him that year, with the picks traded away that year we really could've retooled this lineup |

Meh, Colin White went with that pick. 13 points this year. Could we have took someone else? Sure, but to cherry pick the best players after is foolish. If it was Colin White we would be in the same spot now.
Samsonov would of been nice. |

I think there is enough to figure out the other center. Find the 2c and the rest falls in place.
Jack
Player x (jpg! Jpg! Jpg!)
Larson
Asplund, Lazar, big maybes on mitts and cozens.... mojo could stop gap it, but rather he’s on the wing.
Get me JPG and the disgruntled fin! lazar.
Sign: Samson, Monte, Lazar.
Offer Vesey something reasonable...
Skinner. Jack. Samson
Olo. Jpg. Gruntled Fin
Mojo. Asplund. Cozens
Vesey. Larry. Okoposo.

So a guy that scores 13 pts this year is putting us in a better position THIS year? Dude is nothing special. Being an upgrade over sucky Rodriguez again is nothing special.
If he wanted a goalie Samsonov would be looking great on our team right now |

Even after a good year, the best he could get was a 1 year deal with a bad team to share starts.

He would have carried a decent cap hit too if botts kept him if I remember right... but I could also be remembering wrong. I’m getting old |

Have you looked at the Senators roster or are you just looking at points as your determining factor?
He's a good young player that is still developing. He is only 22 years old.
Having him here would be much needed center depth that is going to be needed long term.
Would it have made a huge difference this year? Maybe, maybe not. But long term it would have been much better having him here.
It would have given the Sabres a center depth chart long term of something like this:
Eichel
White
Mitts
Cozens
Asplund

That draft year at 21, White was taken but Boeser and Konecny were still available
25th pick Roslovic was picked
31st Roy was taken but Aho and Stephens were available
43rd Cernak was taken but Bracco was still available
Those were all picks we had that were traded away. This team could have looked completely different at this stage |
