Mitts has the worst +\- on the team after only playing 12 games in Rochester with a -7, 4 goals, 3 assists. My fears of him being a complete bust seem to becoming true. He must be just floating every game to have a -7

Would have been $5.5 million or more I believe to qualify him

For the on ice performance that had to be a punt!

I wouldn't put much into plus minus 12 games into him playing in the AHL.

They are working on him being more of a complete player while getting him to produce.

The AHL will be a good test. He will end up playing there the rest of the season.

It will be good for him long term

Looking like the next Nylander. Hoping he’s part of a package deal for something useful.

He would have carried a decent cap hit too if botts kept him if I remember right... but I could also be remembering wrong. I’m getting old
- Gr8daygo

It was a 4m QO. He signed for 1.5m. It's crazy to criticize JB on that one.

That draft year at 21, White was taken but Boeser and Konecny were still available
25th pick Roslovic was picked
31st Roy was taken but Aho and Stephens were available
43rd Cernak was taken but Bracco was still available
Those were all picks we had that were traded away. This team could have looked completely different at this stage

- Buff36

Mittelstadt not contributing this year sucks, however expecting Cozens to contribute this year was a pipe dream.

I mean if we took Svechnikov we would be in better shape in front but how do you pass on quite possibly the best defensive prospect ever ?

Nope he was signed for a 1 year deal at $4 million

To qualify him it would have been at least $4.4 million based on the 110% rule (if that applies here I am not sure)

He ended up signing a deal in New York for $1.25 million

Doesn't it have to be 110% or am I mistaken how it works?

Edit:

Players who earned less than $660,000 in the previous NHL season must be offered at least 110 percent of last season's salary in a qualifying offer.
Players who earned up to $1 million must be offered 105 percent.
Players who earned over $1 million must be offered 100 percent.

I agree, the problem in drafting in the NHL is these kids are so young, you really don't know if they will live up to there draft status. It is such a hit and miss

It's a shame we traded that 1st for him that year, with the picks traded away that year we really could've retooled this lineup
- Buff36

I don't think it was as bad as most people make it out to be. If Lehner didn't have his issues here and played like he did for the Isles or Hawks no one would be complaining.
Why do I always have to read about trading away Smythe and Selke winner, but not about giving away a Masterson and Jennings winner for nothing?
ROR wasn't either of those when he was traded and Lehner wasn't either of those when he wasn't qualified. Likely they don't win those awards if they're still here either.
I completely understand why he wasn't resigned. His qualifying offer would have been too high based on his performance.
And although he was well past his prime, Legwand was a serviceable 4th liner and PKer (had 51 and 27 points the previous two seasons).

Kane, Oreilly and Lehner for

White, Roslovic, Roy, Cernak, Armia and Cohmper.

I think I would still rather have the top 3. Would be in position to win now. Solid third line there we could of had now though with those prospects.

on the top 3 guys we just have Montour, Thompson and Johnson from trade. like those three over the picks we gave up though.

He is a center

He is better than E-Rod and Larsson

- Stripes77

So is Galchenyuk, but the majority here don't think he could help.

If Lehner didn't play in a defensive minded system like he did for the Islanders he wouldn't have put up those numbers.

He would be a decent starter (better than what we have here but not by much)

You don't trade a 1st round pick for a goalie AND a cap dump

Been saying this for years.

Move every hockey league's minimum age requirement forward a year or two.

I would take him here

Let him play center and see what he could do

He isn't the long term answer but he is better than what we have here.

White on the other hand would be the ideal 3rd line center in 2 years when Cozens is ready to be the 2C

Botts has shrewdly signed our 3C already in Lazar (now have to re-sign him)

The good teams draft well, the bad teams don’t.

That’s the difference between sustained success.

Is there anyone left from the Seguin trade to Dallas on Boston’s team anymore ?

Yet in comes Pasternak, Debrusk, Heinen, Bjork, McAvoy, Krug and it just keeps going.

Ok instead of a chance at Boeser, Konency, Roslovic, Aho, Bracco, oh and we had the 62 that year we traded to the Rangers, Cirreli was picked a few spots after that

I don't think he is a 3rd liner

But I have loved what I am seeing from him
