From what I hear Murray was told to go for it, but even if he slows down in all his trades this team is totally different. What he did was (frank) this Franchise for another 6 years, and probably the only reason Botts is getting a longer leash is because of that and the Pegula's recognizing how much they screwed up - Buff36
I think he could have gone for it and still kept his job
He just overpaid on every trade and then missed badly on the McNabb trade |

I still feel he's going to be a top 15 BMI player in the NHL he just needs to diet and stop playing video games everyday - gerbe75pts

Victor Olofsson was not wearing a walking boot while performing off-ice workouts this morning in Bridgestone Arena.
Encouraging sign for Olofsson and the Sabres. - Stripes77
Seems really strange that he traveled with them.

I like the one where people think we would have Matthews, Aho, Boeser, Konecny, along with Eichel and Dahlin on this team. - Fattony1187
Never said all of them, we already had Eichel he was selected 2nd in 2015, but all those players were still available in 2015 with the picks Murray traded away that year, even if he hits on a couple this team is totally different. Yes we probably miss out on Dahlin, but I think are Defense survives. |

Mcnabb trade imo was his worst one.
I still think the Kane trade helped us tank to get Eichel
And I liked the Oreilly trade.
What was he thinking with that Mcnabb trade?!! |

There are players who justify playing at 18 or 19
In every major sport. It’s the scouts and coaches jobs to determine if they are ready. We just don’t do a very good job in either of those departments - lulags
But when a GM signs or trades for Vets on reasonable short term deals he gets blasted. So should the GM be trading away better assets to get better stop gaps? Or should he trade prospects for someone that is a proven NHL talent so we don't have to ruin the prospect.
Maybe we should just trade every draft pick for players already in the league. |

Not really. It is dad's trip, and I am sure that it was something planned more than 2-3 weeks ago or whenever the injury occurred. I commend them for allowing him to travel with them. |

I like the alternate reality of pretending Kane and ROR make us a good team when they were here for 3 years and we ended up the worst team in hockey over those three seasons |

A lot of good players were still available, but what's worse in my opinion is what Boston did that draft. Picks 13, 14 and 15. They take Zboril, Debrusk and Senyshyn.
Next four picks were Barzal, Connor, Chabot and Svechnikov.
For all the talk of who we could have drafted, imagine how much better Boston would be than they already are. |

They made up for it with Pasternak and McAvoy but yea they would be a juggernaut if they didn’t blow the 2015 draft. |

Zboril and Debrusk are both studs so I would call it win-win |

I believe that to, they get to mature into there bodies a little more, and you see the development curve a little more. |

I agree but it’s never going to happen because of the McDavids and Crosby’s of the world. |

Imagine the trickle down effect. It would work for NCAA only but ruin Major Jr hockey. |

I could see the players union agreeing to it, because it would keep a few of them around longer. Also, I could see the owners going for it because it would give them a better chance at optimizing their picks with fewer busts. The minor league teams and colleges would benefit as well.
Who would be the ones opposed to it? The kids, but they don't really have a say in it. The NHL perhaps? I don't see anything really negative about the idea. |

You start the kids in each league 2 years later.
It'll even itself out.
I know. Moot point. They're not going to change it, for probably a few reasons. |

Why would it ruin Jrs?
Edit: I think they would benefit from it. |
