Why would it ruin Jrs?
Edit: I think they would benefit from it.

Kids are still sent down to Junior's even after being drafted. Like you said, think it would benefit them, just change the drafting rules for juniors.

To the kids it would remind me of when NY changed the drinking age from 18 to 19 and then 21. You're just about to get drafted and then, nope. Sorry, but you got to wait a year.

It was a little before my time, but a lot of my friends were affected, and they said it kinda sucked (not that they really cared what the age was back then) and they could still go to Canada when they went up to 21 (back when you could cross the border half in the bag with a case of XXX in the trunk).

nylander got us joker, and nylander sucks

So you're banking on Botterill being a drunk GM like the Blackhawks GM was in overpaying in a trade for a question mark?

Could be, some things need to change in a few leagues, can't be in the AHL if you don't make the big club, gotta go back to Junior's anyways.

But when a GM signs or trades for Vets on reasonable short term deals he gets blasted. So should the GM be trading away better assets to get better stop gaps? Or should he trade prospects for someone that is a proven NHL talent so we don't have to ruin the prospect.
Maybe we should just trade every draft pick for players already in the league.

The bolded above is called the Kaiser method.

Never watched the show, but these two scenes from The Detour are pretty funny.

6K had an up and down game last night. At times he was spectacular and also a few he would like to have back. He admits he has some things to sharpen up. And he is going on the road so he might get another game.

side note- our old friend Justin Bailey has had three hat tricks in his last 4 games. Last player to have hattys in consecutive games was another old friend- Mark Mancari.

I really thought Bailey & Baptiste would end up as solid bottom6 guys for us
Just goes to show how tough it is to gauge prospects

I like the alternate reality of pretending Kane and ROR make us a good team when they were here for 3 years and we ended up the worst team in hockey over those three seasons

Did you know Bonino is better than Patrick Kane this year? Me neither.

Is the extra $6.4m worth 5 more EV goals 12 more EV assists?
Looking for reasonable trade options that could help the team I guess is frowned upon around here I guess.

Not frowned upon. You just have to power through the poop. Or shovel it back!

Bonino isn’t a bad call. He’d be fighting a little above his weight class as a 2c BUT at least he is a center. That botts is familiar with. He could hopefully hold the spot down for a year ish... then back to 3c or ufa, I forget how long he is signed for. Also, Whatta giving up to get him?

JPG! JPG! JPG! Is my pipe dream....

I’d have taken gally over a month ago! And still would! Stick him at 2c for the rest of the year and tell him to prove it!
Skinner/olo - gally - mojo.

I forget whom else has been bantered about... bjustead, hurt but getting close. Fitz dislikes him, but at least he is actually a center, that’s big!

I'm with you on Galchenyuk. Low cost to acquire and could still turn it around if he's put back at center.

Pageau is purely being sold as a rental and the cost is probably going to be high. Is he going to be willing to re-sign and at what cost? Secondly, is he having a 'Stafford' season being a contract year and will settle back into his 15g 20a per season he's had over his career?

Yeah, I hear ya on jpg... it’s certainly not a botts buy low move... and while i don’t think I’d blink at bringing him in, it would have to be a trade n sign. I don’t want the rental. And you are correct the resign could be hard because of the contract year bump.... why he’s a pipe dream.

But gally should be done. Zero downside to it... especially if it’s an expiring contract and one of the disgruntled to make money work...

He’s getting the top line minutes, power play time, and shooting at a career high percentage.

Still would be a good 3C though moving forward as long as he isn’t paid as a 2C

My post was sarcasm against the analytics crowd saying Bonino is having a better year. Kane's power play points absolutely matter. They are a factor.

I'm all on board with trying to get Bonino.

Yeah, I don't remember any trade and signs happening this late in the season. I would be sure to include a pick that is conditional on resigning him at the end of the season. Also, I would ask for an additional pick if he resigned in Ottawa.
When they traded Karlsson to SJ they had a conditional 1st in the deal if he was traded back to an Eastern conference team, so it wouldn't necessarily be out of line asking for this type of stipulation.
Pageau is from Ottawa and has only ever played in the Province. I could see regardless of where he gets traded he goes back to Ottawa next season.
