Change the narrative?? That was you. My post was about his contract being an Okposo contract and how his points per game was lower this year than okposos first two here. Your counter to it was he’s “elite”
It was a foolish contract that already looks bad this year. We hate the Okposo contract and he was at a lower pace than Kyles first two years. It’s only gonna get worse.
Huge first half last year, fell off a cliff the second half and he’s rewarded with a crazy contract. Was on pace for only 40 pts this year and now us hurt. Easily one of worst contracts in league right now long term - Fattony1187
You posted that he isn't an elite talent and comparing him to Okposo
I showed he is and has been an elite scoring forward
I love how you're using a 39 game sample size with him playing with Sobokta as your know all be all
But please go on

this entire year skinner was gameplanned as a decoy on the powerplay spinning around in circles in the slot while the puck was passed around the perimeter
if he was actually involved on the powerplay he would more than likely have way more points and everything is kumbaya
notice how reinhart's powerplay production is SOARING now that he is no longer a net front decoy? |

So if Reinhart is playing the Olofsson role, how do by you explain Risto’s production from Sam’s spot ?
All 5 guys are included on the PP, don’t give me that crap. |

Hey Michael,
Not a Sabres fan but what a refreshing relief it is when I see someone who has the sense not to throw out individual stats in isolation. You used CF% but then put it in the context of Zone Starts, QoC and QoT. Kudos and thank you. You'd be surprised how few writers seem to understand this.

complaining about skinner's powerplay production when he straight up never touched the puck on the powerplay is peak braindead |

He's not in Olofsson's spot. He's in his same old spot, just takes a little possession time for things to shift there. Cool that his shot has noticeably improved this year, but there's no big change in the PP.

He scored two goals from one timers on the PP in the last week. They just moved Eichel to his strong side but the premise still remains |

And yet JB saw fit to give him the second largest contract in the history of the team. If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was a savage criticism of the GM. - PrinceChill
I really like my girlfriend, however I don’t agree with everything she says or does.
I appreciate Botts’ patience and trying to build the right way through the draft, I’m not a particular fan of the Skinner signing to save face.

Botts is taking a very conservative path towards building a good team. He seems to really like and overvalue his players. In a few years when Mittelstadt, Cozens and UPL are ready, this will be a good team. We are really only three forwards and a good goalie away. That’s probably three years without any major trades or UFA additions.
As soon as we get a real 2C and 2RW we will be a playoff team, just not one that can win a cup. When we get a solid 3C and goalie, we will be an elite team I feel.

Wendal Clark was a defenceman turned into a winger and that worked out to be an excellent move. Anything is possible. Dahlin as a number 2 center - Camel
He's not defensively responsible enough for 2C |

Dude, this place is rational in comparison to the stuff you hear sometimes. There's always a guy talking about how we need multiple Peters or how Dahlin should be a winger because he SUCKS or Eichel is soft and not good - jcragcrumple

I posted he had a lower points per game this year, than Okposos first two years here. You then responded, completely ignored that stat and fact, then posted because he scored a lot of goals last year he’s elite.
No response to my post then try to frame my counter to your response as my original post. Makes a lot of money, if he can’t play with a Center other than Eichel Botts should not have signed him to that contract.
But please go on

I think we are just a 2C and goalie away.
Also tough to say that Botts won’t make a hockey trade or meaningful FA signing within the next 3 years either, he needs to make the playoffs next year or he’s gone. |

You're cherry picking a 39 game sample size with Vladimir Sobotka or a guy who is currently in the AHL
Not even a Chris Tierney, or hell Valtteri Filppula would be a major upgrade
Also you're using stats when Okposo played with Eichel or at worst ROR... |

And he scored 7 of his 11 goals in the 16 games they played together. So something Sobotka was doing was helping Skinner |

and was on a 50 point pace before Sobtka's injury
It's almost like even really good players need someone reasonable competent to play with |
