Take a winger off Eichel's wing and he goes from 40 goals 63 point and play him with Sobotka and he goes to a 33 goal pace and 50 point pace (which thinking about that is still pretty damn good considering)

Sobotka gets injured and he starts playing with a guy who is now in the AHL and low and behold his production drops...

Shocking right?

and was on a 50 point pace before Sobtka's injury

It's almost like even really good players need someone reasonable competent to play with

- Stripes77

What, so if he would have kept up his pace playing with Sobotka he might have scored 35 goals this year, saying he scored 7 goals every 16 games. So 5 off what he did with Jack. Yeah I get it playing with Mojo and Sobotka just sucks

Skinner was producing with Sobtka (in spite of is probably a better term)

Some how that was working he would have scored 33 goals and ended around 50 points.

Sobotka gets hurt so Mitts takes his place (he is now in the AHL) and then Mojo gets hurt and Skinner's production drops.

So the fact that he was producing WITH Sobotka goes to show he is an elite scoring forward.

But people still want to complain

I think we are just a 2C and goalie away.

Also tough to say that Botts won’t make a hockey trade or meaningful FA signing within the next 3 years either, he needs to make the playoffs next year or he’s gone.

- Pegullaville

Botts doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to make a move so who do you think they should bring in for the 2c and goalie.
I think Dahlin is the perfect fit to be a 2c and I wouldn’t rush on anything else. The way players are dropping lately Botts will be able to set a high price for his available rentals in the coming weeks

Problem is even after they got hurt, he was still getting pretty good chances, he just wasn't burying them. Skinner has proven throughout his career it doesn't matter who he plays with he will score goals, for some reason they just weren't going in this year for him before his injury.

Scorers go through droughts

As long as he keeps generating chances then there isn't a major concern

He scored two goals from one timers on the PP in the last week. They just moved Eichel to his strong side but the premise still remains
- Pegullaville

I know he did, but that's just a spot he finds himself in off draws. Once things are set up, Jack is right back in his spot.

Well yes and no, we really could've used his scoring in Nov., especially during the slide. But you are right scores go through slumps

And 39 of them are playing with Sobotka or Mitts who is now in the AHL

But also Feb 23rd last year is when he hurt his ankle

Whether you believe it or not he wasn't the same after that.

The start of this season he had 7 goals in 15 games

Then everything fell off a cliff with the Sobotka injury then the Mojo injury

But yes Okposo who was never great at generating scoring chances or scoring 5 on 5 yet Skinner has continued to do so when he isn't playing with Eichel or a legit center like Okposo was in his first two years (he played with Eichel or ROR)

So keep comparing the two

My wife just texted me to say that the tin man is at the bar where she is at and already three sheets to the wind. Not sure if he is still a top 10 center in the league.

For as much as you want everyone to stop blaming Skinner's scoring drought on his linemates, I'd like for you to consider the facts below and get off the "he ain't burying them" schtick.

The numbers below show that he is an up and down scorer year to year, that his shooting percentage is equally inconsistent year to year, but he has has performed this season the same as he has over the past 5 seasons..on average. Perhaps you would like to see him consistently be at his best scoring rate, which was last season with Top 5 Center Jack Eichel.

He has infact "burried" the shots he has taken this season just slightly better than his historic rate. This season 10.68% of the shots he has taken have resulted in goals...which is up over his 5 year average of 10.56% shots taken resulted in goals.

Here are the numbers for you...all 5v5 from Natural Stat Trick website...
Season. Gm Shots Goals Shot % Shots/Gm
2019-2020. 39. 103. 11. 10.68%. 2.64
2018-2019. 82. 196. 27. 13.78%. 2.39
2017-2018. 82. 213. 18. 8.45%. 2.60
2016-2017. 79. 214. 27. 12.62%. 2.71
2015-2016. 82. 194. 20. 10.31% 2.37
2014-2015. 77. 179. 13. 7.26% 2.32
5-1/2 Years. 441. 1099. 116. 10.56% 2.49

The facts are the facts.
The issue you may have is comparing his production to last year when he buried a historically high rate of 13.78% ...30% higher than this year...I wonder if his linemates thus season aren't getting him the quality shots he had with Eichel? Gotta be.

So he’s not getting set up by a top 3 Center in the NHL this year and it’s affecting him ? I’m shocked.

He scored 7 of his 11 goals in the first 13 games, the next 26 he scored 4, he shooting Percentage is gonna be were it is cause he was hot in the beginning of the year and cooled of when injuries hit his linemates. He was still shooting the puck at the same rate throughout the first 39 games, and was getting quality chances in those 26 games that he could have buried. You can put up the numbers throughout the span, but the only reason is cause he was hot for a period
