JR was already rumored to be looking into a winger before Jake went down, so logically you’d think he’s looking for two now. I keep reading however that he can’t find a buyer for Chucky which isn’t shocking.

The lack of interest/stock in Chucky is why I think JR will end up trading him for a bottom 6 guy, but still will make another move for a top 6 winger. I am quite surprised by the lack of trades by JR at this point in the year so far. Just shows that we have had a very injury filled season I guess.

Hold on there, Professor. In order to trade Galch for ANYTHING there needs to be an interested team and right now there doesn't seem to be any takers so it doesn't matter the return if you can't move the player to begin with.

At this point it would appear that they'd have to really incentivize a team to take him on and I doubt JR is going to do that to move a UFA they have no intention of re-signing. My hope here is that he'll just bury him in the minors to save a little cap space and free up the roster spot for someone useful.

You gotta think at some point he can move him for a pick.

Sometimes you just can’t. Think about it, he’s a pending UFA with a decent cap hit. Unless there’s playoff-bound or bubble team who thinks he can benefit from a change of scenery why would they want him?

Most contenders are limited in cap space so unless they just miss out on all their targets there’s really no reason to take a flyer on him. Now, if he had a small cap hit there may be teams who would do the old low risk high reward thing, but that’s not the case.

The only way I believe he gets moved is a team willing to take on his cap because he’s part of a larger deal, i.e. if LA took him for Toffoli because the Pens added more to the deal than just the rumored 2nd rounder.

Coach Sullivan: “Matt Murray is going to play in goal today... We think we have two good goalies playing for us right now... If you have the capability to split workload, and you have quality guys, that’s an advantage for your team.”

I do agree it will be tough to move Galch. I see JR retaining salary and potentially having a swap for a player who fell out of favor with their club who JR may feel could excel with this team.

I could be mistaken but I think JR has a self-imposed policy of no salary retention.

Good call on Murray starting, also he retained a small portion of Hagelin's salary one year prior. I do agree though he is one GM who rarely retains salary. I could see him retaining salary if that increases his value. I do hope Galchenyuk goes on a hot streak to gain a little value for us.

A contender could get a long term injury and he could be a cheap band-aid for them.

Idk I just never say never because crazier trades have happened than Galch for a pick or Galch swap for a player in a similar position. I mean we are a contender with a problem forward. I'm pretty sure not every contender has the perfect optimal lineup. Someone may be looking to swap something and it may happen, it may not. But to say no no no is just silly.

Right, but I also said if the team took a long term injury to a player. And what I meant by "to a player" was a player obviously with around the same cap hit.
