Depends on when guys are coming off LTIR really, otherwise could it be tight, yes but then package deals and retained salary come into play there too so not really a cut and dried they are great or they are screwed.

We all like to be optimists but this season it’s more than difficult to accomplish. 1sts & 2nds are the best trade commodity so it comes down to creativity to offload cap & these days prices are steep.

If Florida is for real it’ll come down to a WC spot. Not betting on them but Coach Q has the talent there to get it done.

Canes Philly are pushing hard. CBJ gets no respect & Torts gets max effort from them.

Leafs gotta sort out team D to separate from these teams.

Leafs are better than all those teams.

I've given up on finding out what Leafs' deadline cap is
Is it 7.5M like CapFriendly says, or has Duubass' wheeling and dealing turned it into something else...?
Anyone actually knows?

- 21peter

It's 7.5 now because of injuries. They can't spend that.

Considering the injury issues we have had this year? Not really. Hockey deals are still made and can be made. Leafs have SOME flexability here much as people may hate seeing such.

The whole they are cap screwed argument is two years old and funny but Leafs keep managing just fine to the dismay of the haters.

It really is a wait and see overall but would say there are options that do work and they have assets that can be packaged to make a deal work well enough.

Maybe so but that’s why they play the games. Florida has a pretty good assemblage going on there.

They manage just fine out of necessity. Almost any team has the assets but it comes down to the ask & who the team is up against in the bidding.

My team has the assets to trade with & one the best out there. That said it comes back to the cap also needing $$$’s out. It’s not the time to weaken the prospects pool nor give out top picks for us or the Leafs. We are both stuck needing a hockey trade & the crap teams imo are unlikely to do that.

I see this as a most difficult season to make significant TDL moves.

The Seattle e-draft looms but top teams will leave that til next season imo. I’d keep prospects/picks resulting in a dull TDL. Bottom feeders want to offload cap but top teams want to also.

Quite the opposite man.

Teams are starting to learn to not trade for high priced rentals.

Teams are starting to trade for players with term.

Don’t put the Canucks and the Leafs in the same situation.

We don’t have 16 million locked into Loungo, Beagle, Rousell and Erickson.

Completely different teams here.

So what team can use him at his contract?
Cap problems abound across the league.

- Nighthawk

I doubt he gets traded to a team going for it, Leafs keep him or trade him in a package to upgrade him ( a contender is not trading us the better D ) Imo
