Also how heavy he is on the puck. Lifting his stick is like lifting an anvil. - bmeltzer
Yes. To me he plays the game like a chess match better than almost anyone else. When not to waste the energy and when to absolutely attack. His nerves of steel don’t hurt either. He just always seems to put the dagger in at the right time. |

Oh and descent win last night. Took down and competed well with some of the top teams. Weird. I didn’t see any complaints recently about leadership. I’ll wait til the next loss I guess.
Said earlier this year with the injuries to maybe slide g bac to center. Not ideal long term but creates more depth. Like what the have been doing.
Anyone have thoughts on German last night. Wasn’t over noticeable which could be good. NAK and bunnaman has descent games.
Also anyone else watching last night....., didn’t it seem like the game was about to get chippy a couple different times then,.,, flat again. Pens playing us without emotion hurt them. Keep it up boys. |

I’m really torn in whether I think acquiring Carter would be good. The Kings would have to retain 50% of his remaining salary to make it work at all. The Flyers would still have to clear a little more cap space. Most likely in a separate deal.
Carter is still a good 2 way center, good on faceoffs, shoot first guy, and a right shot who can PK. I think it really depends on if Patrick can be back because I think the team will be in a playoff spot before the deadline. - NC Flyers Fan
I'd stop thinking about it. What you see is what you get going forward with this team this season. Maybe a minor tweak but I can't fathom the Flyers getting big name players.

I hate Crosby as much as the next fan, but did you see that between the legs back to the play pass to Rust that luckily Moose saved? That was almost magical! I still hate him. Was that a great defensive effort, or did the Pens just sorta mail it in last night? Either way I'm happy, but Crosby and Malkin were kept in check most of the game - DANCER
Moose said they had spoken about that type of pass. It was NOT an accident that he made that stop.
Sometimes preparation works, eh? |

Yeah I recall the point blank one on Rust now. Elliott was good (obviously have to be to get a shutout), my point was the Flyers overall team defense and structure was as good as I've seen it in along time. They were the better team by a wide margin which yielded very little quality scoring chances to the opposition.
I specifically went to Penguins website, heard Sullivan and Crosby saying it was all about them not playing desperate etc... instead of giving the Flyers credit. I hate when teams don't give credit to the opposition. - PLindbergh31
Well said across the board.

Never works for Crosby but does at times for head cases like Malkin. |

What's missing is what would the Flyers have to give up to get him? You bring the Kings retaining salary into the picture and the cost goes up. |

I would like to see them upgrade over Bunnaman for 4th line center if Patrick is not coming back. Outside of that, I am ok with seeing what this team can do.
They really don't have a lot of options to trade that won't create another hole. Ghost is probably the only player they could move in a bigger deal that carries a sizable salary. |

The plus side is that he'll rip it, and it usually gets through. - Tomahawk
So it might help him to be out there with Niskanen who can't rip it, but can help him manage the puck at the blue line. Niskanen is scoring points at the same rate as Provorov on the PP.

Laughton for Carter at 50% should work under the cap.
Laughton is 10 years younger, but the Flyers don't seem to want to use him as the 3C. |

Not sure why guys want to move Laughton. He's been great and consistent for us going back to last season. Never takes a shift off |

from what I can see, Provorov is our best defenseman at moving the puck from the neutral zone to the offensive zone (and maintaining/regaining possession) which is one of the most important parts of a good PP
I can see why Vigneault wants him there |

yeah, better get Provorov off the PP, all he's doing there is leading the league in PP goals for defensemen - Coburns_Nose
Yeah, there were some interesting comments made last night. |

Niskanen is the kind of player that just manages the puck on the PP. He doesn't make plays and he's not a big threat with his point shot.
I don't disagree that changes are needed but in my opinion not the one that you're suggesting. - MJL
I agree with those who say, Provorov allows pucks to bounce on him and unable to keep the puck in the offensive zone consistently but Provorov is young and has earned his spot on the top PP. All apart of the process of development. Replacing him with Niskanen is ridiculous. I wouldn’t blame AV if he decided to go back to ghost but it’s not like Ghost isn’t prone to mistakes on the Power Play. He’s allowed plenty of shorthanded goals and I think Provorov recovers defensively a lot better than Ghost should the puck leave the zone. |

We’ve been spoiled by having Timonen, Streit and Ghost prior to Provorov. Some of us don’t realize how thin an argument it is to complain about Provorov on the Power Play right now. Let’s return to this debate in 4 to 6 years. |
