Niskanen isn’t going to produce more than Provorov and as it stands, Giroux and Voracek aren’t playing on the same PP unit.
- SuperSchennBros

I can see that we will not be able to convince each other and this debate has gone on for a few pages with the same points being made so it's probably not worth to continue arguing it

I just think to succeed as a team the top unit needs to perform better. I'm open to any changes that may lead to that

How did Brady Tkachuk replace Austin Matthews at the All-Star Game? He’s far from a point per game player.
- SuperSchennBros

His dad played for the blues, his brother is going, and he was probably one of the few that was willing to go on such short notice (probably because he was already going to be there)

Provorov on the PP has an xG of -0.3

Niskanen is -0.1. Ghost is +0.4

Provorov has a negative corsi while on the PP. Ghost and Niskanen are both firmly in the positive

- bulet13

Provorov has a negative corsi while on the PP? LOL. Shot attempts when Provorov is on the PP are 205 CF and 42 CA. His CF% is 83% compared to Niskanen's 83.13. Gostisbehere is at 85.07. Negligible and meaningless differences.

Provorov leads all NHL defenseman in PP goals.

This is what I expected from you. Stats babble. Trying to use stats that you don't understand and like most amateur analytic followers, never look at the full picture.

So they have better regular season goaltending than the two Vezinas Bobrovsky won there..... Nope.

Agreed. In the new year I am trying not to get too heated on this board and start throwing insults around. I know you and I get into it a lot on here but I'm tryna keep that in the past. Certainly cannot be good for either of our mental health. So please call me out whenever I do

I'm not sure what answer you're looking for. Their goaltending has been better than ours. They score less but give up leas

*shakes hand*

One thing I really do want them to try on the PP is that old pop out to the slot quick shot that Hartnell ran to perfection and then we used with Schenn. Like 2-3 years ago Coots was pretty effective in that role and position but for whatever reason the last few years they stopped it altogether. Wouldn't mind them going back to it now

The goalies are playing very well in their own right but it's first and foremost how the team plays in front of them. If Bob (whose FLA stats are below average but largely due to how the Panthers being a team that trades off chances) were still in Columbus, he'd be close to his normal numbers even if down a bit.

My only gripe with last night was the broadcast..

I swear, if it's not Doc, Eddie, & Boucher NBC's national broadcasts are one of the most painful in all sports.

Lovejoy wasn't too good either. he seemed so nervous and stiff. maybe with time he will get more comfortable.

Regarding the gritty story, dad has said his kid is ok, he’s not talked to an attorney, he wanted what happened acknowledged and investigated, and wanted his kid’s medical bill paid. He took him to a chiropractor and was diagnosed with a back contusion. Dad was a season ticket holder since ‘97 and canceled his season tickets.

I'm just amazed that not one person at a STH event noticed a grown man in a huge orange costume doing a superman punch on a child.

I'm also amazed that the kid's father didn't instantly beat the piss out of said man in costume.

I'm further amazed that he first contacted the team to complain about the quality of the photo, and only later expressed his concern about the physical harm caused to his child.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm just saying it's got some peculiarities to it.

Patrick Sharp seemed the same way when he first started too. I think he's a lot better now. It looked to me that Lovejoy was just nervous and thus stumbled over his words a bit.

Guys, Gritty is being investigated for physical assault on a 13 year old boy
- arichardson22

I don't know, if Gritty punched me or a family member in the back I would immediately go to the event organizer. I wouldn't be waiting weeks to file a complaint. Just seems fishy to me

Not buying it at all. Aside from the dad just watching his kid assaulted, you mean to tell me not one person had their phone out? This day in age people are more likely to film someone getting beat up rather than call for help. On top of this, people tend to have their phones out when Gritty comes around. Not a single person got any film after this horrendous running punch?

Philly is getting screwed by the BJs. Last night it was Bjorkstrand with the GWG, one of the smaller skill guys that Homer passed on to take Goulbourne.

Okay. Well, I wasn't there, so while I think it's highly unlikely it happened (at the least the way it's being presented), I can't say for sure.

“They called him ‘Z2,’” said Paul Holmgren. “He plays just like Zac.”
