“They called him ‘Z2,’” said Paul Holmgren. “He plays just like Zac.” - Feanor
Yes, it was a bad pick. Are you going to post about every bad pick the Flyers have ever made when a player on another team picked after him scores a goal? Basically, you just wanted a reason to take a shot at a guy. |

I'm just amazed that not one person at a STH event noticed a grown man in a huge orange costume doing a superman punch on a child.
I'm also amazed that the kid's father didn't instantly beat the piss out of said man in costume.
I'm further amazed that he first contacted the team to complain about the quality of the photo, and only later expressed his concern about the physical harm caused to his child.
I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm just saying it's got some peculiarities to it. - jmatchett383

*shakes hand*
One thing I really do want them to try on the PP is that old pop out to the slot quick shot that Hartnell ran to perfection and then we used with Schenn. Like 2-3 years ago Coots was pretty effective in that role and position but for whatever reason the last few years they stopped it altogether. Wouldn't mind them going back to it now - bulet13
Agreed
One of Couturier or Hayes should be more than capable of playing this role. I’m not gonna die on this hill but it would have made a lot more sense last season to place Simmonds in the crease and JvR on the slot. The Power Play last season was the most out of whack I’ve ever seen it. |

Definitely deserved. He looks better now than he has in years in all areas of the ice. Yes, he’s coming off two career seasons but in my opinion he was lacking defensively while putting up those impressive offensive numbers. Good to have the real Couturier back. |

It was the goal that knocked the Flyers out of a playoff spot going into the All-Star break. |

Your opinion is worthless. Couturier came 2nd in Selke voting in 17-18 because he was dominant at both ends of the ice. |

I made the mistake of telling my wife about this in front of our 6-year-old and used the term "adult." She kind of sat there puzzled for a moment and said, "Daddy...is Gritty just a person in a costume." I just stood there, and my wife said, "It's just Gritty, daddy just mean that he's a grown up." She seemed to accept that. |

Patrick Sharp seemed the same way when he first started too. I think he's a lot better now. It looked to me that Lovejoy was just nervous and thus stumbled over his words a bit. - hockeylover

He was trying to comprehend how the all-powerful Penguins were losing/had lost to the unskilled, ape men Flyers. |

Interesting coming from the guy who claims all day everyday that Chris Stewart is the root of all the Flyers problems. It sounds like you have so much going in your day to day life. |

Based on your post about Ghoulborne?
What about Couturier's defensive play overall in the 18/19 season? |

Hope TK really enjoys his first all-star game! Hope they mic him up. He really deserves the selection. #FlyersSniper
Congrats, TK!

After all of his anti-Flyers remarks, i.e. "It's not a rivalry because the Flyers can't compete with them," I hope he felt super uncomfortable and awkward. |

According to hockey viz Coots defensive impact 5 on 5 was stronger in 18-19 than any other season
I think what makes this season stand out more is that he seems to be playing near the same elite level with worse defenders (i.e. Jake) and also has been nothing short of spectacular on the PK
Edit: stronger than any of the past 3 seasons
Appearantly in 15-16 his defensive impact was at ridiculous levels and probably shouldve deserved the Selke Selke then
Also, I know it's just one site but IIRC evolving hockey also seemed to think he had strong defensive impacts last season |

I'm confused - do people on this board not think Coots was amazing last year defensively even so the team overall struggled? |
