While I agree that a 1st round exit sucks, playoff experience does matter for the younger guys, even if they lose, imo.
Also, if there were a MTL-WAS series the habs might lose but they would probably give them a good run for their money. - Pat1993

I wonder if they'll change the playoff format with Seattle's arrival, to let more teams in for each conference. - Pat1993
all that is happening is seattle going into the pacific division and arizona moving over to the central division. no other changes which is weird because the wildcards exist because it was easier to make the playoffs in the west with the 16/14 conference alignment |

Who cares about the playoffs? This team is so far away from being a cup contender. I don't want to see them get in and get swept by Washington in the first round. What does that accomplish? Another few million dollars in Molsons pocket from the home game revenue? - cburgess
Oh! I'm not arguing with you ... if we're gonna tank, let's do it for real and put some qualified people in place instead of the cartoons we currently have. |

so, more teams making the playoffs? - Pat1993
Only rumours at this point but i can't see them making the change. Asking 4 teams to play a game 7 to get into the playoffs, then get on a plane and travel to the best team in the division the next day is a bit unfair I think. You play 82 games, surley you can figure out who the top 8 teams are by that point. |

I'm all for tanking, that's the only way for a proper rebuild. But like you say, you need the staff to do it. So they are in no mans land right now. Not good enough to contend, not bad enough/ not the proper system in place to rebuild |

Maybe Joel is not the player devloppement genius we hoped he would be.
Also Kinkaid and Lindgren have combined for more game than Primeau - Fredo

Its on more then just the GM. Like who promoted Trevor Timmins? Hey Trevor, great job drafting Nikita Sherbak and Mickeal Mccarron, that worked out well, you can now be our assistant GM. - cburgess
I still believe GMs make the call in first and early 2nd round picks over head scouts... the scouts get the rest fo the draft.
I may be wrong, but I suspect that is the case in most team structures.
There have been reports the player Timmins wanted was passed over for others by the GM. Whether true or not, doubt we will ever get the truth.
Not saying Timmins is blameless, but I do not hold him 100% accountable for first round busts. |

Good point.
I'm probably just mad because the two with any real potential to amount to more than 4th liners and 3rd pairing D Primeau and Brook aren't playing like they should. |

Not given the chance! Put Brook as the 1st RD on the Habs and he becomes the Habs' 1st RD. |

I'm not saying Timmins is 100% responsible, he's just been the head of the group that has missed almost every time. So is it how they develop these draft picks? Like a blind man would hit a dart board a few times if he was given enough darts right? I just find it hard to believe that they actual suck at drafting that much in the first round |

If Molson has any sense left, he should clean up the place and bring in new blood.
The results (lack of) speak for themselves ... I won't even talk about the other stupid decisions (ie. Alzner's signing, Carey's insane contract, Sebastian Aho fiasco, etc).
Fans should send a CLEAR message by staying home for the rest of the season.

That was a desperation move by Bergevin ... because of his own mismanagement he had no one left in the minors who could help the team.
All he's been doing the last few years has been to get other team's scrap pieces in order to fill the huge holes in the team's lineup.

It's an "Old Boys Club". Just like the Hoilers or the Arold Ballard years.
People need to stay the (frank) home and not support this trash plain and simple. This organization is a complete mess and joke from top to bottom. |

To be fair he got some pretty big pieces from other teams. It's really the draftees who haven't stepped in.
Top 10 scorers on the team, only 2 were drafted by the habs and one of them is Gallagher who was drafted by another GM. |

He's just trying to save his job. He knows he won't be the guy the re build the team, he already got crack at it. |
