Everyone makes mistakes, but they’re only memorable if the end up in the back of the net. Either way overall I thought he was good.

Marner on Ceci: "Played a great defensive game, blocking a lot of shots, PK was huge for us & that six-on-five there at the end, I think he was on for that whole minute & a half or whatever it was & did a great job keeping them out of the middle"

Keefe on Ceci: "He really competes. He's very strong around the net, below the goal line. He battles & comes up with those loose pucks which are so important when the game is on the line ... his teammates recognize it. That's why he got the game ball tonight"

Now reflect and watch the video.

You can see why a lot of coaches in their post game questions say “I need to watch the video first”

ok. move up the lineup. Babs was right all along.

I’m just saying he didn’t play well. He’s had much better games than this...

Sticking up for a teammate, a positive final shift. Gets some brownie points with the team.

But overall his game didn’t provide positive results.

It's basically cliche for a coach to say that.

So Leafs still stink or they can't make the playoffs?

Nylander's 27th in scoring. If he maintains being around there, then I don't give a (frank) if he looks like a homeless douchebag and is soft as slime.

People really thought 6.9 was "Millions" overpaid. What idiots. It's a steal. He's onls signed in his prime years as well.

Dubas "Caved"? Dubas got "Bent Over"?

Yeah those people were dumb to think that in the first place.

Willy is far to skilled to not produce and live up to his contract.

I know, you're right. It's funny because the section of Leafs Twitter that hates Nylander was giving credit to everyone but Willy on his goal.

Some of the criticisms was stupid too. He got a "Full Salary"last year, yes, so the cap hit is lower through 6 years and they had tons of cap last year to do that.

People don't have any idea what they are talking about.

Same with our "Cap", no one has any idea more than half the league at at the cap max just like the Leafs. If you have talent you will be at the cap. Heck, Arizona is at the cap max now.

Leafs are the only team at the cap who lack a horrible contract they can't move.

Already stated this.

Ceci doesn’t provide anything offensively so when he makes glaring mistakes like that he costs the team.

- Santo_44

It's a bit of an unfair standard to hold him to. It implies that unless you're a high risk guy who's providing offense you can't make mistakes.

In every game guys are going to make mistakes. The pass into Sandin's skates is honestly a bad one to cite since just about everyone flubs a pass or flubs a shot or falls down while skating. I'll obviously grant that we've all seen Ceci screw up small routine and unpressured passes a lot, so it's not like it's not happening frequently. But to diminish his game yesterday using that as a citation is poor.

The missed assignment on the Radulov goal looks like it's on him. He was clearly not looking and was covering pretty much nothing. That said, Sandin fails to take Faksa, Kapanen misses the pass through the slot, and I don't know who else missed on their assignments there because I think they were changing. I'm not sure - even if Ceci is looking up ice - if he could move up or block the onrushing Radulov or his shot on that play to stop anything from happening.

I'm certainly not a huge fan of Ceci's, but he was good against Nashville and he was not bad last night. I thought he was better against Nashville.

Why is Edmonton again overpaying a supporting guy? Kassian gets that contract. Why?
This is where Dubas is great. He never overpays those supporting guys.

No because he wouldn't be playing with JT.

Ceci.

And Marleau was a bitter pill to swallow.

But I still like your post.

And his new coach would make him play defensively instead of just floating around the neutral zone.

Except he'd be on a new team, so he'd no longer be a selfish player who guys from Vancouver hate.

This is very, very confusing.

I know your take on Ceci, but honestly, if the Leafs were so inclined, he'd be movable at the TDL for a mid-round pick. His salary is basically a $1.1m cap hit at the TDL and by now with injuries or various other callups and so on, will have some wiggle room there.

The Marleau deal sucked, but it has left us in the position Roger likes to gloat about.

Selfish hockey! Break it down.
Skate the puck.
Don't pass it.
Head man's still gonna be there when you catch up.
Take it coast-to-coast.
Shots from poor angles are still shots.
Buck and a half, two-minute shifts, three minutes even.
Cruise the blue line to catch your breath.
Bad bounce, that's a good breakaway.
They don't ask you how they ask you how many.

willy has talent.

it's not a question on whether the deal will be good value. that's likely.

it's will it ever be great value like huberdeau is this year? doubtful.

I sincerely hope Nylander goes bald on top, and soon. We need a new phil kessel on the team.

It really does..

On Gurianov's goal, it seemed clear to me that he was Kerfoot's guy to coverage but Kerfoot lost positioning, but they still blamed Willy.

The problem is that to get great value in the future, the guy had to not be great at the time more often than not.
