No one, from what I've heard on here Dermott is sick so they called up Gravel.

Maybe Dernott needed a dose of Gravel? Not sure.

You know, it's the best chance to get a sense of best-on-best at that age level. Some guys impress who never even approach the impression they leave the WJC. Some guys fail to impress who elevate their game way beyond what they showed.

A good example is a guy like Svechnikov. I was not impressed with him at the WJC, and I saw him at the Young Prospects game, and was equally unimpressed with him there - but he's looking good now.

For me that guy is currently Byfield. His numbers in the O are gaudy; but he was not effective at the WJC (recognizing he's younger does excuse him somewhat), and was invisible in the Young Prospects game this year.

I like to see something that sets a player apart from their peers when they get into best-on-best.

A long time ago, while the earth was still cooling, my wife’s team played in a weekend tournament in Kitchener. As luck would have it, the Canadian WJC was having their camp in the same facility the same weekend.

A very young Crosby was there. M-A Fleury was there (I thought he was the worst goalie there).

And there was a defenseman there named Shawn Belle. Sweetest skater I have ever seen. Better than Coffey.

I thought for sure this kid would become superstar. Was really pulling for him.

He never really even became an NHL regular.

You just never know.

He's on a sacred quest. There's no time for punctuation, guy who's trapped inside of Big Buff.

I’m on a sacred quest for retirement, wings and beer.

Still have time for punctuation.

I've never really liked Fleury as a goalie (he really seems like a genuinely wonderful person). He makes these unbelievable saves, and allows unbelievably bad goals (not as many as he used to as he gets older, I'll grant). He really reminded me of Potvin that way.

But yes, I know what you mean. At the Young Prospects game the D-Man I was most impressed with was Jérémie Poirier - he was very fluid, and strong with the puck; I was surprised to find him ranked 20-30 depending on the ranking.

Tavares has his best goal scoring year last....
With marner
Matthews looks to be having his best goal scoring year....with marner.

But then, willie is having his best goal scoring year with JT.
JT not having a great year....but still doing alright.

So good.
Its all so good.

Except the no playoff spot yet.
But lots of time.

So true: If you think about all the busts picked first overall it validates this. There are thirteen listed on the link below - not including, Johnson, Ekblad, Yakupov and others. Has to be at least 20 duds or guys that were significantly over rated at #1
The draft has been in existence since 1963 so that means 56 drafts to date. If there are roughly 20 bad picks, it means there's better than a 30% chance based on history that a team will pick a stinker at #1

I can't tell if you are nervous, confused or confident?

All they have to do to get Tavares back to producing like he did last year is play all of their games on the road ... away from the kid who won't sleep.

Yup.

I find that humour gets us through hard times.

Just noticed your location.

What ever happened to AnnGee44?

Man, she was hot. Soooo hot.

I still think of her, when I'm alone in the shower.

So hot. So feminine.

What ever happened to her?
