TSN just reported that he's highly unlikely to play this year. He hasn't resumed skating from his ankle injury and is thought to be on the high end of 290 pounds. Dream over. Next!

Also he sucks defensively

I'd rather go after Josh Manson from Anaheim if we can unload Jacko's contract in the process.

So any bets on if JMJR has called Byfuglien to work something out? Especially after the caps threw us around yesterday. Honestly I don’t think he has anything left but that would be funny as hell.

He has to have more to offer than J.J.

The list of teams I dont want to see in post season keeps growing.
Philly, Boston, Washington, NY Islanders.... And they are probably going to get 2 of these right away in rounds 1 and 2, and quite possibly could have to hit 3 if they find ways to win. Yikes.

He's not THAT good...4.1 mill cap hit....right handed with Tanger and Marino already top 4 right spots.

Pass for me.

There aren't going to be any easy matchups in the East this year.

EDIT maybe CBJ, I haven't really seen them lately or how they're winning so much.

I dont know that there's ever an "easy" match-up anymore. Even when you see a sweep the individual games to achieve the sweep weren't easy. League parity is at an all time high now. Every team that gets in has the ability to win, especially in such a high random event sport such as hockey.

Poulin won player of the week for the 2nd week in a row for the Q. Last 5 games: 10 goals 19 points. He's already tied last year's 29 goals in just 36 games (took 67 last year).

Always true, this year just seems extra stacked. Tampa, Boston, Washington, and Pittsburgh all look like serious contenders. I know it won't happen because of all the divisional play down the stretch, but right now there might be 100 point pace teams outside the playoffs.

Yeah the East is looking a little more powerful these days for sure. If the Pens made it to the ECF's Tampa and Boston could already be gone...unlikely, but possible.

Considering 5 of the top 10 teams in the league are in the metro is terrifying as hell.

Yeah and another 3 from Atlantic. So 8 of the current top 10 in league are in the East.

What's crazy is that the 6th place team in the metro would be 3rd in the Central, 2nd in the Pacific and tied for 3rd in the Atlantic.

Every year we're always surprised by one or two teams that wind up being good and also one ore two teams projecting to be good wind up poopting the bed. This year is kind of ridiculous.

Tampa found their footing, Boston is as expected as is Washington, but overall in the league it's pretty bizarre. I didn't think the following:

- TOR would struggle
- NSH would be a bottom feeder
- VAN would be a top team in the west
- CGY would struggle
- CBJ would be doing as well as they are

Carolina was a team on was on the fence about it all hinged on goaltending for me. I expected them either to be 2nd in the metro or not in it at all.

I expected regression from NYI and while they're obviously still in the mix, they don't have that buzz they had last year.

DAL continues to be the ultimate overachiever. I expected them to miss this year, but goaltending is once again carrying them. Bishop doesn't always seem to get mentioned in the talks for top goalies, but he's by far one of the best.

Priori to the start of the season I also didn't expect the Pens do be doing as well as they are. I expected them to be fighting for the final spot.

In case you missed WSC's long-winded posts. Here you go.

The Isles have been treading water. They really need to make a trade to help kickstart their offense. Their schedule is not easy to finish so unless they do something, I don't know if they can hold off Toronto or Carolina.

Probably, but I don't think GMJR trades him until he figures out what he is doing with Jarry/Murray. Both are probably too expensive to retain so you might be trading one and DeSmith will then become the back up.

Agree. Fair trade but doesn't make sense for the Pens to move DeSmith.

I do think they could come back with Jarry and Murray next year but it's unlikely. Teams are valuing the tandem more though so I wouldn't be shocked either.

Is this rumored somewhere or are you just spitballing?

I don't get the sense the Pens are going to make any goalie decisions until after this season is over.

Probably fair but I'd rather use DeSmith as a "sweetener". If we were to trade for Kapanen or Hyman, for instance.

Ryan Wilson once again thanks for pointing out all the negative things about the Pens , all the things they can't accomplish, how there goalie isn't up to par, how there power play stinks, and how great Washington is, but they still won. Go figure
