Ryan Wilson once again thanks for pointing out all the negative things about the Pens , all the things they can't accomplish, how there goalie isn't up to par, how there power play stinks, and how great Washington is, but they still won. Go figure - ddwes39

So, I know Eklund is generally full of poop, but if Hall really was available...would you do it?
What if the ask was Jarry and a 1st? He'd likely be a rental and you'd be locked into Murray as your #1 going forward, but he'd be an ideal fill-in until Guentzel gets back. |

While Hall would be an amazing get, I don't think the Pens should move either goalie for a rental; only assets. I also don't think AZ needs a goalie.
That said, he's totally worth a 1st + a prospect. |

What if they wanted a 1st, Kahun, and one of Addison/Poulin/Legare? |

How about Glachenyuk + Pierre-Oliver Joseph?
But in all seriousness, no to Kahun, but maybe to the other. If the Pens can get Zucker or Tatar for the cost then I'd rather that. |

Like I was saying like 4 days ago Hall should definitely be available. Ya the yotes didnt give up a crazy amount like some were saying it would cost but pretty much everyone and there dog know he isnt re signing there. If the yotes were a true top contender then maybe go all in for a rental but they definitely arent. 26-21-7 and losers of 5 straight they could easily miss the playoff still in the worst division in the NHL.
Didnt answer your question but Id try and keep Jarry though as I dont think the yotes would value him as highly as other teams would that are in desperate need of a young starter. |

Only if he came with an extension. That seems very very high for a rental. Like stupid high. |

Is this rumored somewhere or are you just spitballing?
I don't get the sense the Pens are going to make any goalie decisions until after this season is over. - Rinosaur

With the option to discuss an extension first sure. For most likely just a rental not a chance. |

Teams do stupid things at the deadline. Just ask Flyers fan about the Adam Oates trade. Or Caps fans about the Martin Erat deal. |

Oh yah. Boston trading for Rick Nash was one of the biggest blow ups in recent memory. I just hope Jim is smarter than that. That Erat for Forsberg deal though.... still get a laugh out of it. |

I honestly think JR has his head screwed on straight after reversing some damage from bad moves, so while I'm prepared for maybe an underwhelming trade, I'm not expecting a bad trade. |

Personally I don think they're playing that great overall currently. Admittedly I didnt watch that Caps game, I think it was the only full game I missed this season, but them being mostly outplayed and still winning fit the main narrative of the past 3 weeks for my eyes.
So with all that said, I think RW is calling it like he see's it, which is pretty close to the reality of it.
None of that is to say they wont get back to that buzzsawish activity we were seeing in November and December, but they have cooled off a bit and mainly due to injuries IMO. |

I still don't think the Pens make any goalie moves until the off-season unless someone hits them over head with a great deal.
DeSmith is obviously not worth 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick, but I think he's worth more than 4th in terms of value. I think he serves the Pens better as part of a package for an impact player than just a pick. |

The Pens are definitely seeing some regression and it was expected at some point considering the injuries. The level they've played at this season is not easy to sustain when you're still missing key players like Dumo and Jake. While Kahun may not be a major player, losing him when you've already lost Jake hurts a lot. |

He's cost controlled for another 2 seasons at 1.25 mill cap hit, thats attractive as well...not only to other teams but the Pens as well. |

I really think if you took JJ out of the top 4 you would start seeing more buzzsawish activity, but yeah, Kahun looked great in top 6 and Jake is a stud. So those two top 6 wingers and the top pair being greatly hindered are the big reasons without a doubt. |

Honestly, too much for a rental and way more than NJ dealt him for. Addison/Poulin and a 1st are both better than anything AZ gave up. |

I agree. But what if the Caps add Kreider or Toffoli? Arms races are a breeding pool for overpaying. |

It's all a ripple-effect.
It's a combo of having JJ in the top pair and not having Dumo in the lineup; he's key to the transition game of this team.
Losing Kahun with Jake already out hurts by throwing off the balance and depth of this team which allows the Pens to roll four strong lines.
I feel like it's back to the mentality of bank as many points as you can until healthy, not be overly concerned if the Pens win games they don't deserve to win. It's better the Pens hit some regression now than in March. |

Agree, they're struggling to create offense and without Dumoulin aren't quite as sound defensively. Get Dump back, add a wing, and maybe a few more bodies (Kahun, Bjugstad) and it looks better. |
